Was your 2nd babies bigger than 1st?

DS was 8lbs 11oz and 10 days early.

I was told at one point I would have growth scans this time but that seems to have been forgotten about. I also had a forceps and 3rd degree tear with DS.

I want a natural birth this time, I am allowed as I healed well, although if I want a c section I can.

Are 2nd babies always bigger than 1st?

It's nice no matter what way you do it, imo. Get your DH/DP to do it; I think my midwife used some sort of warm oil. Really thorough and informative article here

My first was 7 lb 2, second was 9 lb 8 and emcs.

DP would you consider a homebirth? it might decrease your risk of tearing?

The MW definitely reckoned that it was going easy on the last push that meant for no tearing.

I'm going to print this thread off and read it to myself as a bedtime story every night.

I've found it astonishing how many people think it is appropriate to tease me about how second babies are bigger and how I'm going to have a montrous sized baby.

Next person to do it is getting punched in the chops.

No I wouldn't consider a home birth, nor would I be eligible due to my previous birth experience.

DS1 8lb 1oz 39+6
DS2 8lb 14oz 40+4
DS3 scanned the day before he was born and predicted to be 9lb was 6lb 11oz at 38 weeks

DS1 7lb 2oz - an hour and a half of pushing. Lots of stitches
DD1 7lb 8oz - two pushes and out she popped. No tearing, no stitches.

Second baby definitely easier to push out - your muscles give up much more easily!

PG with DC3 - planning a single push! Optimism has to be the way forward...
