Not hearing heartbeat at 15 weeks with doppler - ok?

Had consultant appt this am as this pregnancy being consultant monitored due to emcs with DS

Appointment was a total waste of frigging time and left me feeling more Hmm than before

They refused to do a scan as I had already had an Oscar test. I told her I was feeling more butterfly type movements last week than this week and was a bit concerned and could they just check the baby. She refused to scan but said they would listen with doppler

She couldn't hear the heartbeat. She said it wwasn't a cause for concern as too early (and by my own admission, I am padded so that probably doesn't help) and that they wouldn't expect foetal movementsa this early and she thinks everything is fine

Just thought I would check here and see what others think? I have googled and it seems to be an even mix of hearing/not hearing the heartbeat at 15 weeks

Not even sure why I had the stupid appointment...wasn't anything the midwife couldn't have done with me - they didn't even feel my tummy, do BP or anything!

Doctors can often not find the heartbeat in early pregnancy, ime gynae nurses and midwives find it much more easily!

I have felt foetal movements at 15 weeks, with pg 2 and 3 anyway, and have found the hearbeat at 15 weeks in pregnancies 2 and 3.

If you are worried about the baby's movements, you are better off going to EPU where they would scan you if they cannot find a hearbeat. Do you have an EPU nearby where you can self-refer? Having said that, they may not see increased movements as a sign for concern.

Can't self refer to our EPU, doctor has to do it

She didn't seem concerned at all and there is a part of me that can see the logic of what she is saying, but another part of me thinking well, I know my body and I'm pretty sure I felt more last week than this week...think I have felt some 'bubbles' but not as much as last week iyswim

Pretty pissed off they didn't scan tbh...would have only taken 5 mins

I sympathise as this happened to me, but I was able to go to the day case unit to get it checked. All was fine. It's very very early to be feeling any movement so I would be doubting what you felt last week tbh. Try not to worry (easy to say, I know).

Can you not get an appointment with a midwife, tell them your concerns and ask they use the doppler- they will probably have more experience. I appreciate it may be down to area but my midwives are happy for me to call up and ask for advice any time and if I am worried make a quick appointment at the beginning or end of the day.
Are you having a 20 week scan? I'm on first baby and felt first movements around 16 weeks.
At 22 weeks I had a scare as the baby wasn't moving and I had pains that turned out to be SPD and went to a hospital (not my own as was visiting friends) and they did a doppler check and a scan for me to put my mind at ease.

I'd call your MW. Mine is far better than any doc I've seen so far at finding the heartbeat.

It's not usual to check for it before 18 weeks though as it's harder so can just add to stress as you've found out - IMO the doctor should've said no to you!

Movements are very very variable at that stage too. I was told to only really keep track of them after 28 weeks.

GP could never find dc1 heartbeat, seriously practically had a panic attack everytime I had to see her.

Had my 16 week appt with dc3 last month, the midwife warned me that it was very unlikely we would hear heartbeat as I had just turned 16 weeks and that it was her opinion that they shouldn't try with doppler until 18 weeks. I am now 21 weeks and movements are also really variable as japphrimel said, I have only really started to feel them recently.
