i am 14 weeks pregnant and was out with my friend when a car was trying to park and pulled out right infront of her and she had to avoid the crash by hitting hard on her breaks. the seat belt dug right into me and at has been hurting me on my left hand side since...now it was only about an hour ago but is it normal to maybe pull something when that happens? x

I would go to the doctors anyway and just get it checked out. Assume maybe you pulled a muscle but the advise is to get it all checked. Hope you ok as must have shook you up! Let us know how you get on....

go to a & e then as you'll see different people. Do get checked out for your own peace of mind.

Pain on the left side (if you were the passenger) is I believe, a common result of a car accident/slamming on breaks. It's because the seat belt did it's job and locked you in but in the process will have bruised you along it's length.

It's worth calling your midwife as I'm not sure how that kind of shock could affect the baby, but I think you'll find some bruising coming up along the line of the seat belt over the next few days. Most likely the damage is skin and muscle deep (damage to the left shoulder is also quite common I understand).

Who cares who thinks you are a drama queen. You and baby most important so dont ever worry about that ;)

you may want to consider getting one of the seat belt restraint things. You can get them form JOhn Lewis and its just a fabric pad that you sit on and has velcro straps that pull the lap bit down so its over your thighs rather than the bump. It was one of the first things my MW said to me when I ws pg with DS1.
