Swimsuit while preg?

Hi

Does anyone has any recommendations? I'm 19 weeks and can't fit into my cossie now. I would like something flattering as i'm a size 16/18 and something practical to lug a 2 yr old toddler about at the pool without flashing boobs etc!

The mothercare ones look pretty uninspiring. Has anyone got any recommendations (for under £30?).

Thanks

ASOS have some nice ones.

I got a good one from Blooming Marvellous but I think they've gone bust....

nymphadora · 06/10/2010 09:42

Asda do one and its cheapish and not flowery!

I struggled on account of the ginormous boobs I now possess. (Sp??). In the end I went with a non-pregnancy tankini with built in (proper sized) bra - keeps the melons very secure. I got the bottoms in a bigger size and went for ones which had a folding bit of material so you can keep pulling them up as the bump increases. Try panache - a bit more expensive but you should find something in the sales now for less than £30.

Ha ha I'm still squeezing into my pre-preg size 10 M&S one (and I really am not that size any more at 33w!). I just couldn't find any decent ones that fitted my bump and my original seems to have stretched enough (much to the disgust of most people at the swimming pool I think!)

Good luck!

honestly? go a bikini - pregnancy is truly the only time in your life you can let it all hang out. Let's be honest, we've all walked down the beach sucking our stomachs in. And when you've a lovely bump, you don't have to!

japhrimel · 06/10/2010 16:38

I have the say I don't recommend the JoJo Tankinis in your situation. They don't give much support (halterneck) and your LO could easily untie the top! Don't get anything halterneck with big boobs and kids is my advice. Grin

I wore a bikini on holiday and that was far better.

whizzymummy · 06/10/2010 17:25

Have you looked at the topshop one?

Sorry don't know how to copy in a link but just search topshop maternity - it's a black all in one.

I bought one when pregnant with my DS a few years ago and it's very similar and quite flattering.

Not sure whether it'll give enough bust support but worth a look and it's under £30?

4madboys · 06/10/2010 17:30

i got a plain black one WITH underwiring from asda of all places, it was £8! they had quite a few to choose from, i was very suprised, only nipped in there on the offchance as we were on holiday and i was desperate!

RayeB · 06/10/2010 17:36

thanks for all the ideas, will have a look now online at them all. cheers!

I just kept on wearing my pre-preg tankini. No issues with outgrowing it that's for sure!

DomesticG0ddess · 06/10/2010 18:21

I have found the black halterneck tankini from Mamas and Papas REALLY flattering - just the top half. The bottoms weren't so flattering, but as the top is black, I have just carried on wearing regular black bikini bottoms. The top is long enough to go over the top of the bottoms.

I got the mothercare tankini one with shorts, I know you werent impressed but they fit really well and mine doesnt ride up when Im in the pool and jumping about like an idiot at aquanatal :-)

Panzee · 06/10/2010 21:19

I got a Zoggs one from a sports shop.

flickor · 07/10/2010 18:00

Decathlon do a cheapo maternity one which I think is made by a French company. I am 37 weeks and wore it last week. Its comfortable and hold me in place (I got a medium and it still stretches).

TooImmature2BMum · 07/10/2010 20:42

Do you need bra support when swimming? Doesn't the water hold them up? I'm asking cos I was measured at the weekend and am now 32F (previously a D - that's like 4 cup sizes and I'm only 19 weeks!) and I've still only got my old Tesco basics pre-pregnancy costume. It still fits but probably not for long, so am in the market for a new one too.

cowboylover · 07/10/2010 21:09

I found some nice ones on Figleaves.

My boobs to float well TooImmature2BMum thats the problem; they float too well and sometimes on there own in different directions to where im heading Grin

tiredfeet · 08/10/2010 09:41

I got mine from mamas and papas, its lasted brilliantly throughout my pregnancy (and I have been swimming at least twice a week if not more) and grown with me (and my now gigatic bump) really nicely. Really impressed with the quality of it, still swimming in it now at 40 weeks.
