Out of Breath...32+5?!

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice...currently sat at my desk and feeling very out of breath. I have been feeling this every day for a week or so now. I know that breathlessness is one of the lovely array of pregnancy quirks, but I am starting to get a little dizzy with it now and can't understand why I have it jsut sat down?

Do you think I should make an appointment with the Dr, or just put up with it?!

I think it is normal - I get breathless very easily... if I do anything and even if I am talking a lot (sitting down) eeeek.

However, as with anything, if you are worried have a chat to your midwife. Have you been tested for anemia lately? that can make you feel breathless, tired and light headed...

I am 33+3 and feel really breathless as though someone is squeezing my windpipe. Lying down excacerbates it and I just can't seem to find any position apart from standing that feels ok. Even when I am standing I sometimes get the sensation.

If this carries on until my due date I really don't know how I will cope.

I've heard the anemia association with breathlessness too, but i've also heard it can be simply hormones or in the later stages the diaphram being a bit squashed by size of the baby and completely normal.

I think it would be worth talking to GP or midwife and having a blood test and maybe blood pressure too just to hopefully get the all ok and to not have the worry of wondering Smile

When you sit down, your diaphragm will be more squashed by baby, not less. So even though you need to take in less oxygen than when you're under exertion, it'll be harder.

Def call the MW if you're worried, but this sounds pretty normal to me!

For me, in both pregnancies, this was a sign of anaemia. Definitely worth a blood test I'd say.

Yes I haven't had a blood test for 5 weeks so I'm going to go get one done - it's worth a check (though I do have a pretty healthy diet).

I also am not a tall person and my torso is pretty short so am thinking that might be contributing!

Thanks for the advice
