To stop, ahem, grooming? Shaving my legs is becoming increasingly tricky and I am waving the razor around my bikini line but can't actually see what I'm doing Grin.

Mind you, I am going swimming so have certain standards to maintain. I am sure there must be a cut off point after which you can just give it all up.

when its a BFP???? No only joking!! Do you have a DP you trust to do it!!! Mine did it from about 26 weeks last time, what it looked like though is anyones guess!!!

niamh29 · 04/10/2010 20:08

I used creams on my legs (although I think I may remember someone saying not to do that) and I used an electric trimmer for the bikini area, I know it's silly but I'd be mortified going into labour with big hairy legs and nether regions overgrown.

soozlewoozle · 04/10/2010 20:20

I got my DH to do it, although in retrospect I should have asked him on a night when he hadn't drunk several glasses of wine... Shock Confused

mrspear · 04/10/2010 20:24

Ha Ha Well i was still trying when i gave birth at 30 weeks. My bump reduced quite quickly into a wobbly mass and i remember looking down thinking "oh my god what have i one?" It was an uneven mess. Hate to think what underneath looked like. But i wouldn't trust DH.

If it bothers you go and get a wax otherwise when you can't see too well give up!

I'm 33 weeks and starting to find it tricky doing my bikini line. I go swimming a couple of times a week so it is necessary. However I find my standards slipping.

The other day in the shower weilding a razor I found myself muttering "For God's Sake, everyone knows we have hair down there...does it really matter if people can see a few spiders' legs!"

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 05/10/2010 17:48

OMG I had a wax at 20 weeks and it was sooooooooooooooo painful I'm not sure I'd want to repeat it. Definitely much worse than before I was pregnant.

I would trust DH but feel like I had handed over all my dignity if I had to. Maybe I will just keep going until it is physically impossible!

None of you will give a flying monkeys when your at transition stage... The entire world could see you and you really wont notice...

ethelina · 05/10/2010 17:51

you're obv. (Neither will you care about correct spelling...)

oldmum42 · 05/10/2010 18:10

The trick is to use a mirror - something you can set down on the sink/work surface at an angle so you can see what you are shaving/trimming/waxing. That works well enough for me and I'm almost 37 weeks.

As I swim daily, I feel I don't want to scare away the other members with my hairy bits....

I do wax things into a tidy shape, then trim the remainder, and waxing does hurt more when pregnant, but if you do a little and often (5 min once or twice a week is better than a big session once a month),it won't leave you bleeding and bruised for days!

Rocklover · 05/10/2010 20:21

With my 1st pregnancy I managed to shave my legs the day I went into labour (my exh was partially sighted, so NO WAY was he doing it).

This pregnancy I have already given up at 23 weeks, simply because I have been feeling to grim to care. Really need to get my arse into gear and tidy myself up a bit to be honest.

Samraves · 05/10/2010 20:54

I have given up... :( My DH did it once but made such a cock up of it, I think it probably just better to have an over grown lady garden!

FourEyesGood · 05/10/2010 21:00

I've pretty much given up (34 weeks +), but bought a swimming costume with a very low leg (like shorts) to avoid having to worry about scaring other swimmers.

Might try to do my legs this weekend, but won't be too bothered if I can't manage it! As I recall from my last labour, it'll all be immaterial when I go into labour...

Floopy21 · 06/10/2010 10:30

When you get married.

I doubt people in the swimming changing rooms are looking close enough to see your stragglers/hair on legs. You'd have to be quite close .

Hee hee, reminds me of my friend. When she had her DD1, I was to look after their DS1. So I arrive at their house at 2am, friend in labour, still with a 45 min drive to hosp, and she was in the shower shaving her legs and bikini area. No idea how she did it, she was huge. Must ask her if she still was bothered when it came to baby no 6.
