bleurgh!

i'm off work again with rotten morning sickness. ds is at nursery and i'm making the most of an empty house and doing naff all. (which is what you are meant to do when off sick)

i feel bad being off work but i'd have been throwing up during literacy and numeracy this morning if i'd gone in so pretty sure ofsted wouldn't have classed that as an outstanding lesson!

i still feel grim and can't imagine feeling better tomorrrow. although i could be ok with a good night sleep but a teething ds may put paid to that.

can't decide what to do Confused

I'm off today and have been since Wednesday afternoon. GP thought I had a UTI, but test have come back clear today :(

I could have gone back to work today but didn't sleep well last night at all.

I do feel guilty about not going in, but not as guilty as I would feel if I overdid it an made myself ill.

Everyone is different and if I hear "your not ill you only pregnant" one more time I swear I will not be responsible for my actions.

If we weren't pregnant and throwing up a regular intervals or feeling as crap as we do would we be expected to go into work? NO.

Only you know your own body, and if you are a teacher it's slightly different to me working in an office. I can realistically go to the loo for 15 mins if I need to, I'm guessing not so for you.

Hope you feel better soon.

No point to feel guilty and no point being at work if you are unwell and unable to concentrate and work efficiently. Your health should be a priority!
Wait and see how you feel tomorrow.

Not sure where you are, but in case you are london, you have done well to stay at home today because of the strike. It would probably make matters worse to be out and about in hot tubes and waiting for trains that don't arrived, being pushed by careless people.

Enjoy your rest my dear! Wink

soppypreggyloon · 04/10/2010 14:20

cheers ladies!

i know me and bump come first and i'm really not that invaluable at school! Smile

i'm still in my pjs. playing on mn. considering a shower but also considering eating my third mini milk of the day.
there is no logic in my morning sickness!

zahara - i'm based in south west so no need for tubes etc. i'd HATE that while pg though. i get really claustrophobic while pg!

Oh good! I am 31 weeks today and living in London. Managed to make it to the office but it was rather difficult. Feeling sorry for myself so had 2 peices of GU choc and caramel flap jacks! Grin

soppypreggyloon (like the name btw!) if it makes you feel any better at taking a few days off I'm a teacher too (teach food tech which is great apart from when you can't be near food!) and was signed off at 4 weeks as I couldn't manage the cooking smells from work. Was signed of until about 7 weeks when summer hols kicked in, and now at 20 weeks I've only just got back to work in the last week or so. And I can't manage longer than an hour at school before I go down hill. Seriously - resting and not stressing (and trying to eat regularly) is the ONLY thing that makes me feel human. I've taken so long off work I feel terrible, and I've had a really bad reaction to hormones, you'll be fine by this point! Tbh I still don't know if I have the energy to teach without feeling really rough and my GP just says it's not worth the stress etc. I love my job and I'm very dedicated. It's been a nightmare letting someone else take over my lessons as I'm such a control freak! If I could work I would, but I don't feel physically ready to manage to and mw says I just ahve to go with whatever my body tells me, so have another day off if you need it - you should feel much better from the rest and more able to cope with work for the rest of the week.

soppypreggyloon · 04/10/2010 14:56

i think part of my worry is ds is home with me wed-fri and dh is away at the weekend. SO if i do myself in now i'm seriously going to struggle for the rest of the week. think i'll say nothing to work and see how i feel tomorrow morning. yes its a pain organising supply at short notice BUT knowing my school they'll cut costs and get HLTA to do it.

angels - cheers on the name - back on mn after a self imposed ban and name changed

soppy, my school have only just got supply in this past 2 weeks! They had poor members of staff covering for me up until then. I'm sure all the staff are feeling quite Angry angry at me for making them do so much extra work :(

slimyak · 04/10/2010 15:54

At 24 weeks I seem to be out of the nasty bits of pregnancy for the short term - roll on the back ache, crumbling pelvis, sleeplessness and acid reflux of the last trimester.

Just wanted to share my Mum's antidote to the 'you're not ill you're pregnant' which is:

'It's a good job you know you're pregnant otherwise you'd think you were dying.'

soppypreggyloon · 04/10/2010 15:59

slimyak Grin at your mum! does that go down well with you? not sure i'd see the funny side with my head down the loo!

well school have been on the phone asking if i'm back tomorrow. as i've only told the head (who told the rest of the senior management team!) i didn't want to spill the beans so said vague things about seeing how i go as not eaten much etc etc.

feel guilty for lying. maybe i should have just said i'm off tomorrow too?

damn these mad hormones making me more stressy and indecisive than normal! Confused

slimyak Grin will definitely be using that. Think DP thinks I'm rather enjoying being an unreliable Austen type who takes to my bed at any given opportunity and feels too ill/weak to do anything much. I'm not honestly!

stegasaurus · 04/10/2010 16:24

At my work if you are off sick because of vomiting and/ or diarrhoea, you have to stay off until 48hrs after your last symptons in case it is infectious. Obviously this is different if you are pregnant, but, if your colleagues don't know you are pregnant, you can use that as a justifiable reason to have another day or two off. Then they can't harrass you to go back to work and you don't need to feel guilty about not being there.

soppypreggyloon · 04/10/2010 16:39

same rule here but obv i know its pg as does my head.

think tomorrow will depend on how ds sleeps. if he has bad night teething i'll be suffering. if he's fine maybe...

we'll be using the calpol tonight!

That is just what I said to my colleague who was saying that "now women can take pg tests at home, they feel pg for AGES, in the old days you were about 3 months before it was confirmed so pg must have felt much shorter".

I was [sceptical]Confused

I said, "Given how ill I was for the first three months, I'm glad I knew I was pregnant, otherwise I would have thought I was dying. There is no way I would have been blissfully unaware just because I couldn't wee on a stick...."

Honestly

soppypreggyloon · 05/10/2010 09:23

well i decided to take today off too.

got up in night for wee and nearly fell over dizzy.
when the alarm went off i felt rotten so decided to stay home.

as predicted they are dumping my class on the HLTA. good job they're easy and there's only 19 of them!

hoping to keep food in today! Hmm

Good idea to stay at home and get as comfy as possible, that's the only way to deal with the sickness and nausea. Good luck on the eating front. x
