Changing bag lust

I really, really want a nice changing bag. Am 34 weeks and am lusting after lin and leo bags like this www.linandleo.com/loopy-lou-bag.cfm or this www.mamasandpapas.com/product-audrey-leather-changing-bag-chocolate-brown/252641500/type-i/ but cannot justify spending that amount of money. :(

Does anyone know where to get a similar bag but at a more reasonable price? I've searched everywhere I can think of online but no joy so far. I must have a lovely changing bag but I simply can't get the credit card out and buy I Lin and Leo one. Can I?

er no - I never got the changing bag thing. Just a bag, with pockets isn't it??

I did lots of walking when DD was a baby with both buggy & front pack, so I went for a good backpack, that was also nice to look at. Can be carried by me or slung over pram.

I've treated myself to a pacapod changing bag. Had the baby bag that matched travel system with DS & found it a pain so this time I've persuaded myself that the pacapod not only looks good but is also very well designed. Treat yourself..it'll all be about the baby soon!

partyhats · 30/09/2010 16:41

I think changing bags are ridiculously overpriced given that you can buy the insulated bottle holder and changing mat for less than £10 for both! I was going to say just do this and buy a nice handbag, but having done that myself I have decided that my new leather bag is too nice for carrying baby stuff around in! therefore I have just bought an oilcloth cath kidston bag from ebay for changing but it is a normal messenger bag style that can be used on its own anyway.

ck oilcloth.

DomesticG0ddess · 30/09/2010 19:31

I didn't get a change bag last time, just a bag, but this time I couldn't find any regular bags I liked and never go shopping, so bought the Boden one online - its £55, but they have 25% off (I think til midnight tonight). There's nothing special about it, just has a changing mat with it and I already have insulated bottle holder.

If you want to go really budget, join the Boots Parenting Club, buy some Pampers and get the free bag - I've got that too, to leave in the car just in case!

vmcd28 · 30/09/2010 20:05

i love changing bags too, but I get one with my pram, so I'll be using it, as I cannot justify paying extra money for one. I've probably already been charged £50 for the one I get "free" with the pram!!

Anyway, if I was buying one, I'd get one of these - CathK

I'm thinking rucksack, but then again, I'm thinking, carrying baby in sling, how is this going to work, so now I am thinking about this little number on ebay - what do you think ladies?

Here - it's a 'bagtogo'

TotorosOcarina · 01/10/2010 09:27

Its gonna hold nappies and wipes! And clothes that your baby has vomitted and poo'd all over!

Just get a £20 one!

TotorosOcarina · 01/10/2010 09:29

what about this?

msbossy · 01/10/2010 10:33

Well, I love bags at the best of times so I'd say go for it because these are nice bags pure and simple. However,
my recommendation would be to buy one in a light-weight fabric so it's only heavy when you out for a while and need to carry a lot!

Supplement a nice roomy bag (I have a great one from Accessorise) (you'll need on with a few pockets) with additional items as needed.

If you are bottle feeding then insulated bottle carriers e.g. www.mamasandpapas.com/product-tommee-tippee-insulated-bottle-bag-/884225300/type-i/

And for nappies, wipes etc get a wet bag like these
www.bespokebabyroom.co.uk/ourshop/cat_248615-MonkeyFoot-Designs-Wet-Bag-Medium.html
If you are using washable nappies get at least two of these - they are one of my best buys :-)

I think Lin and Leo are well worth the money. I have one for over a year now and it still looks good. I use it every day off when with ds4 and have also taken everything out of it and used it as a carry-on bag when travelling.
When with ds4 I use the pacapod pods that I got with my old bag and fit them in. I always have them packed and ready to go. You can now buy the pods on their own from the pacapod site.

TheNextMrsDepp · 01/10/2010 10:49

Never was much into changing bags. Mind you, when I had ds1 the choice was limited to blue quilted things with elephants on.

LittleB · 01/10/2010 10:51

I'm thinking of treating myself to a nice changing bag too, but like the idea of the ck messenger bag. I already have a couple of wet bags for my washable nappies and changing mat, would just need to get a bottle insulator. Would need to be waterproof though with a long enough strap to loop over buggy handles. I've got the free boots one, but its not big enough for a full days worth of baby gear, especially with washable nappies, and its not v. pretty! Handy as a spare though. Hm,m off to browse ck bags on e-bay now!Wink

ProzacTheGiggleFairy · 01/10/2010 11:23

I still have the free Huggies changing bag from DS2 who is now 6. I don't tend to bother with them otherwise.

BabyRoosMum · 01/10/2010 11:35

I decided that seen as though I would be unlikely to need/be bothered to take a handbag out with me for the foreseeable future, I would treat myself to a nice changing bag. I hear all the arguements re using ordinary rucksack etc but surely the fun of having a baby (when your first pregnant...) is that you can go and buy all the baby things...???!!!
I went for this one.....still a week til baby is due but cant wait to use it :)

You can get £2.50 off the wet bags with the code AUTUMNMUM at bespoke baby room in link below by msbossy.

Hermya321 · 01/10/2010 12:21

I found this one on ebat, it's a lin and leo one but an older version of the ones you posted.

NotWithoutMascara · 01/10/2010 13:37

Thanks Hermya. I've bought it! By far the more sensible option I think.

TotorosOcarina · 01/10/2010 14:15

ooh thats very nice!

SpanishLady · 01/10/2010 15:47

I got the Lin & Leo leather bag in Turquoise as a birthday gift from my parents - baby not born yet so havent used to but seems very nice - mind you was very surprised given the cost that it didnt even come with a changing mat......

tanmu82 · 01/10/2010 20:02

oooh, I have so been lusting after a Lin and Leo bag! But I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on one.

I have decided instead to buy this one or this one, or maybe this one from Zara (can you tell I love Zara?!) and then I'll buy a changing pod thingy to put inside.

NotWithoutMascara · 02/10/2010 09:24

tanmu really like the second one.
