Another name dilemma!

I'm convinced I'm having a girl this time, boys names are sorted (little babe would not let us see it's naughty bits at scan) anyway DP and I are totally stuck on girls names (having used the only one we like for DD1 (???)

Anyway I like Amelia shortened to Millie DP isn't that keen but Millie is the only one he's even half agreed to so far.

But her name would be Millie Reid - do you think she would be called Millipede?

At this rate she'll be about 6 before we agree on a name!

names are SO subjective - I could offer loads of girls names I like - but would you?

I suggest you keep ploughing through those name books

(yes, I do think she would get called millipede!)

spacecadet · 07/09/2005 17:17

we had this prob when i was expecting dd, dh didnt like any of my suggestions and the one he liked, i didnt, i think she would be called millipede..sorry has he even entertained the idea of any other names?

Twiglett · 07/09/2005 17:19

sorry millipede is asking for trouble .. although its a lovely name

I found girl's names almost impossible ..but boy's name I knew by month 3

Lonelymum · 07/09/2005 17:19

Amelia is a lovely name in its own right and Amelia Reid sounds fine - runs off the tongue quite nicely actually. Couldn't you reserve Millie for just home?

spacecadet · 07/09/2005 17:20

i had so much trouble finding a girls name, but had a massive list of boys names, we finally settled on emily.

JoolsToo · 07/09/2005 17:20

it's weird - I always struggled for boys names

faeriemum · 07/09/2005 17:21

hi well if your going for the 'A' for a girl then how about...Alysha or Anneka

rodeo1 · 07/09/2005 17:56

I agree with Lonelymum, Amelia Reid is lovely, and she can be Millie at home

sweetkitty · 07/09/2005 18:04

Thanks for your replies it's so difficult I really like Amelia as well, not too fussed about it beginning with an A (I already have an Abbie)I liked Caitlin when I was pregnant with DD.

Oh well back to the name books......

amelia is a lovely name- very girly.

rodeo1 · 07/09/2005 19:49

Ooh Twiglett, I LOVE Mathilda and Imogen!!

vickiyumyum · 07/09/2005 19:52

wanted to call ds2 tilly, but he was a ds and not dd!

Tilly is a lovely name, although i probably wouldn't bother with matilda just tilly.

hunkermunker · 07/09/2005 19:53

Nice to have a longer, more formal name for best and CVs when you're older though.

When I hear the name Millie I always think of Millie Dowler - the schoolgirl that was abducted and murdered about 5 years ago - but thats becuase her body was found just down the road from us.

Plus there are alot of Ameilia's and Millie's at the moment.

sweetkitty · 07/09/2005 21:32

heres the names I can't have:
Hannah
Stephanie
Natalie
Beth
Jaye
Alysha
Morgan
Erin
Molly
Annabel

DP just cannot decide on a name!

As you are back in Scotland Millie with a Glaswegian accent may be a bit like Willie becoming Wullie only a thought
