Anyone had placenta praevia first time and not for second?

Sorry for the garbled title - trying to get the gist across without going into great depths.

The issue is that I had placenta praevia with my twin pregnancy and recurrant bleeding/hospital stay/emergency caesarean, etc., etc. I'm now 13 weeks pregnant with my third baby (second pregnancy) and concerned about the risks of getting it again but with bells on. I know the risk is slightly increased this time but I foolishly made the mistake of asking the sonographer at my nuchal scan where the placenta looked to be this time (was praying for high and at the back). Anyway, both of the twins' placentas were posterior last time and, having heard that placentas never grow from the same site, it shouldn't come as a shock to hear that the placenta is anterior (at the front) and over my cervix. The sonographer said not to worry as it was hard to tell at this stage and the "99%" of placentas are very low at 12 weeks, but I'm very concerned that this puts my placenta in prime position for accreta i.e. to grow into the site of the old caesarean scar.

I know there's no point in worrying as there's nothing I can find out until 20 weeks but I just wondered if anyone had had this, or had praevia in their first pregnancy and went on to a hassle-free second pregnancy? I really need some words of encouragement as I'm beginning to worry that I've seriously shot myself in the foot by getting pregnant again.

Note to self: Never ask a sonographer about placentas at 12 weeks! You just sign yourself up for 8 weeks of worry.

My best friend had placenta praevia in first pg and spent last four wks of her pg in hospital before a section at 37 weeks. She went on to have a healthy 2nd pregnancy and natural birth. Good luck!

Thank you. Not the best news today as I saw my consultant and he scared the crap out of me with discussions about placenta accreta. We'll see. I appreciate you posting though and I'm going to try and will the placenta into the right place. Worth a go, right?

Hi kitstwins, I don't know if you remember me, my mn name used to be rek21 and I was hospitalised with pp (&accreta as it turned out) 18 months ago for 8 weeks. You (and several other mners) kindly posted on my thread all that time, which helped me so much. I just wanted to say many congratulations on your pregnancy! I haven't got any helpful advice as I obviously haven't been pregnant again in that time but I really hope everything goes well and that by 20 weeks your placenta is out of the way. I did notice just now on the 'c-section stories' thread that a poster called ariane5 had a third pregnancy after having accreta second time round. Maybe you can hijack to find out what happened there? All the best x

My Mum had PP with her first (who sadly died, was delivered by EMCS under GA in 1969) and went on to have 4 perfectly healthy pregnancies and babies.

I had placenta previa last time and had a section at 38+5 and am pregnant with twins this time, and both placentas are high, one anterior, one posterior.
