Hi all,

Just wondering - I will be five weeks pregnant on Wednesday. I have a definate big bump.

I know that sounds a little ridiculous - I do tend to show quite early - this is my forth pregnancy - DD is 5, MC in Feb 2009 and DS is now 8 months. With ds I did show early but not to this extent!! I know with each baby you "pop" sooner (I know the tummy muscles are shot to bits) but this bump is so big Im concerned with how on earth Im going to hide this for the next 8 weeks.

I wore a very loose fitting dress yesterday and was so obviously pregnant that my grandmother rubbed my stomach and winked at me. I wore a loose jumpsuit type thing (one piece) to college tonight and could not wait to get home to take it off as tummy is so swollen that it actually hurt. I wore this 4 weeks ago and it was very loose. Anyway, think you get the message. Was just wondering, (since there is a four and half year gap between my two!) would this have anything to do with being pregnant so soon again after DS?

Also, know I had a thread on this already, so sorry to keep repeating but symptoms are really high, I knew I was pregnant about 2 days dpo and got BFP at 11dpo. So quesy tonight and the pain in my back and awful stretching cramps are so bad that I could cry!!! feel very pregnant already - which Im thankful for but am wondering if you feel/ experience symptoms sooner after a close pregnancy, if that makes sense?

Sorry for moaning so much!! thanks for reading

I'm 33wks weds and my ds is 19 months old and all my friends said instantly when I told them-u have a bump already (I was 5 weeks.) I think I was very bloated to be honest although it didn't go down and I didn't drop in weight with my bad nausea and sickness, I've just got progressively huge around the middle and stayed a 10 everywhere else but I'm in a lot of discomfort with it. I also found my boobs got very big from virtually nothing but sadly they have gone pretty well back to normal-they'll no doubt be big again when milk comes in. I wouldn't worry about the size you are now, I think it's prob just bloating and adjusting your body. I could tell when it really was baby as you could feel it, at 5 wks baby is tiny and really low down. U sound excited anyway congratulations x

DomesticG0ddess · 28/09/2010 10:47

Congrats BarbieLovesKen! Are there any twins in your family????

belgo · 28/09/2010 10:48

Could you be a bit more pregnant then you think?

Octaviapink · 28/09/2010 10:58

It's worth going to the doctor, Barbie, because it sounds like you may be retaining a lot of fluid. The baby is tiny at this point so your bump is unlikely to be it. I got pregnant again when DD was 8.5 months and more or less had the same showing-time as before - 'popped' at about 12 weeks and had a little grapefruit-sized bump for a while. Everyone's different, but if you're really feeling bloated then it's worth getting checked out.

And congratulations!

I'm twenty weeks and got a 13 month old. And I am Huge already. Also, lots of other nasty pregnancy symptoms appeared much earlier, ones that shouldn't be happening yet as baby is too small to add weight, but must be hormonal. I mean the dreaded piles and the knackeredness and brain just doesn't work!

Hi all and thank you so much for your lovely replies.

I know Im probably being a little over the top, but ever since MC, Im slightly more neurotic about pregnancy than I was. Just worry a little more. Im taking the high symptoms to be a good thing though, as with MC I felt too good, at least this way, I feel everything is working as it should, if that makes sense.

I know the bump isnt baby, I know the baby is teeny right now. Its just stomach is so, so bloated and swollen, if that makes sense - Octaviapink alot of fluid makes so much sense, I think I will go to Docs, although I wasnt planning to for another couple of weeks.

Belgo definately have my dates right. My period is like absolute clockwork, very regular and Im even postitive of the date we conceived. (OOoh how lovely it would be to find out I was further along though.. Grin

Bundlebelly thank you so much for sharing your experience!! at least Im not the only one!! speaking of hormones - I am an absolute lunatic this past week Blush Im crying and screaming at the drop of the hat and Im usually quite placid Blush

DomesticGodess twins - well not really. Absolutely none at all on DH's side, none (that Im aware of on my dads side but my granny is a non identical twin, her sister had non identical twins and my aunt had non identicals (although I think this one was a result of IVF tbh) That wouldnt be enough to have a history though, would it? (sorry I sound so clueless!!)

Barbie you have just described a strong family history of non-identical twins...!

BarbieLovesKen · 28/09/2010 14:26

is that really twinsister???!!! oh my God pml.. Blush Anytime I've been asked, I've just said na, not really. Blush oh dear..

but its only 3 sets? between both sides of the family? and as I said, one was a result of IVF so probably 2 really.. ?

I was in maternity trousers at 7 weeks with DD - DS was 17 weeks old at that time. I found I was really big at the start then it evened out eventually.

I found it impossible to hide from people too!

KnottyLocks · 28/09/2010 14:45

Um, you are more likely to have twins if there is history on the mother's side, as you have, and if you have had children already, as you have too.

Good luck Grin

domesticsluttery · 28/09/2010 14:53

I have two close friends who had twins with their fourth pregnancies, apparently the chances are higher the more pregnancies you have.

Not to worry you, of course...

DomesticG0ddess · 28/09/2010 19:29

I would say that is quite a lot of twins in one family - I mean, I have literally NO twins in our family that I am aware of, let alone 3 sets on mother's side.

buttonmoon78 · 28/09/2010 19:38

3 sets is a lot, 2 is still plenty. The chances increase if it's on you mum's side. Also, non-identical is hereditary, identical is not (AFAIK).

I'd suggest sounding out your gp. They may well send you for an early scan at which various things might happen:

  1. you could be further along than you think
  2. you could be exactly where you say you are therefore it could be masses of fluid
  3. you could be having twins!

Bite the bullet and get it done woman!

(Oh, and then come back and tell us... Congrats!)

Northernlurker · 28/09/2010 19:40

Yup that's tons of twins in your familyGrin I know someone who had twins on their fourth pregnancy too Grin

CarGirl · 28/09/2010 19:49

My early bumps were very big very early on with my 3rd and 4th pregnancies.

But Shock about the twin history!

EvilEyeButterPie · 14/10/2010 20:26

Any news?

phipps · 14/10/2010 20:28

I couldn't get into my trousers at 7 weeks and that was with my first baby!

mumbybumby · 14/10/2010 20:34

Just wanted to add that I was very bloated at the beginning if this pregnancy (no.2). I looked pregnant at 4-5 weeks and was horrified! Luckily it settled down after about 9-10 weeks and I now have a small, compact bump at 22 weeks.

Though I don't have a family history of twins. . . ! :o
