Long tops needed

Perhaps this should be in Style and Beauty although I don't feel I qualify on either score at the moment Grin

I'm 32 weeks pg and desperate for long bodied maternity tops, am really fed up of my vests / tops riding up at the back, exposing flesh and over the last few days letting in decidedly chilly draughts.

Can anyone recommend a good source?

TIA

I would recommend non-maternity shop, White Stuff. They do loads and loads of long tops - which I have bought, as I have the same problem as you. Big boobs don't help in my case!

I keep banging on about this, but primark have some great non-maternity long tops and tunic that I'm still in at 36 weeks
or get a couple of bump bands from topshop to cover the gap.

Whilst not technically maternity tops Evans start at a size 14 and their tops tend to be very longline and not too expensive. If you are a size 12 or above guessing they won't look silly on you. I'm normally a 16 on the high street and have been buying an 18 from Evans for plenty of room.

In fairness a lot of the clothes there are really funky as well as they seem to aim a lot of their stuff at the younger market.

I got some great black/grey stonewash jeggings for a tenner and and array of funky t'shirts/tops for between £7 and £15 each in the sale.

Do try things on though because their sizes can vary.

I'd second Primark for long vests and tops. Non-maternity but very stretchy.

I got my bump bands on ebay - 3 for £15. I bet that's cheaper than Topshop!

FloraFinching · 27/09/2010 08:38

Janice - they're £5 each in Topshop.

CuppaTeaJanice · 27/09/2010 08:51

Wow, I'm used to things being extortionate prices in Topshop!

Looks like it only comes in nasty white though - my ebay bands were a pack of black, grey and dusky pink.

FloraFinching · 27/09/2010 08:53

They do have black and grey in the stores - you need to get back in there!

CuppaTeaJanice · 27/09/2010 09:07

I'll go and have a look Smile although I suspect our piddly little store might not have the full range!!

Thanks all, forgot about bump bands, didn't use them last time but sound like they could be the solution.

I bought a couple of long tops from Fat Face 2 weeks ago. They were £35 each but very comfortable and plenty of growing room for those of us that have yet to get a bump. When I checked out the maternity options I didn't really like them so I opted for these instead. I've bought in preparation so I don't end up waking up one morning and thinking "Dam, no clothes left to wear".

The length of some of the tops there are a tad long but most sit between top length and dress length. I guess they're really supposed to be worn with leggings but I wouldn't dare wear legging. They go quite nicely with my work clothes and my jeans :)

M&S have long length and long sleeved (non maternity) "layering" Tshirts for £12 each. I have bought 3 in black, grey and purple.

They go well under a cardi and keep the draughts out well!

I got some good non-maternity long line tops in both asda and matalan that have lasted me better/fit longer than some of the maternity ranges I bought!
