Bleeding at 26 weeks - advice needed

Yesterday, when I was on the toilet I realised I was bleeding, when I wiped, bright red blood and I guess about a tablespoon (sorry to be so graphic) I called my midwife who referred me to a scan, I have had the scan and it was found that I had lost a 'tiny' amount of the placenta and there is no blood flow in that particular area.
Midwife does not seem too worried, I am still working, I was wandering if there was anything I could do to prevent any further losses, as I believe then this could be serious.I am thinking of taking 1 week and working from home to reduce stress, and then see how I go? would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Hi 1stimer, sorry I don't know what would be best in your situation, but why not take the week anyway? It's always good to reduce stress. Hope you are ok and this turns out to be insignificant in terms of your pregnancy (I'd be encouraged by the midwifes attitude).

1st timer - I don't think that a bit of time off work is a bad idea. I would imagine that you will be booked for a rescan in a few weeks time to see how things are progressing. You can mange OK with a little bit of non functioning placenta. Unfortunatley there is nothing you can physically do to prevent bleeding but a bit of time off work to pamper yourself wouldn't go amis. You might find that you lose a bit of 'old blood' over the next few days so don't be too alarmed if you get brown staining. Hope everything settles down quickly for you.

Thanks mears for the comments, I haven't got a re scan at the moment, I'm in NZ and I guess things are a little different, but I am due to see my midwife next week for my monthly check up, so will discuss that with her.
I am going to kick back and chill for a bit at least then I feel as if I am changing something.
Thanks again

1sttimer .... what a worry for you ... From what I have heard NZ midwives are pretty much on the ball so I would definitely be encouraged by her. In NZ You can request another scan if you wanted to ... did you know that?
Anyway ... have a good rest this week ... put your feet up and watch some of the 'quality' telly that NZ has to offer

Yeah thanks Ghosty, I will request another scan, I do feel thou as if I'm being a little paranoid?!, but I am working from home this week and so I'll see how that goes, my boss has been very understanding, a family man, and basically said to me you don't get 2 chances at this so don't take any un-necessary risks, which was nice to have that support. Mmmmm NZ telly great isn't it!

Just seen your post 1stimer - sorry to see you are having a stressful time. Glad that you are having time off work to give yourself a break, sounds a sensible idea. Let us know how you get on with the rescan if you aare given one.
