Nearly 10 weeks and no nausea today - panic has set in

Hello

I am nearly 10 weeks pg with DC#1 and up to now have had pretty bad nausea (no vomiting though) and crippling tiredness. I am still very tired (plus having a bad cold) but have realised that I haven't had any nausea - looking back maybe since yesterday afternoon.

I am now convinced something is wrong and can't stop thinking about a mc I had in June at 6 weeks. I've had no spotting or bleeding and its still 3 weeks until my 12 week scan. Did anyone else suddenly stop feeling sick like this? I never thought I would actually want that feeling back...

Hi yes. I similarly lost symptoms at about this stage - I think it has something to do with the placenta kicking in.

I'm 40 weeks now!

Hi Sloathy.

Im 9+2 and have had no morning sickness or in fact any symptoms since Monday. I can totally understand that it is worrying but for me in my previous pregnancy with ds my morning sickness had also completely gone by 10 weeks and i had a lovely smooth pregnancy. Hopefully you're just one of the lucky ones :)

I had pretty constant nausea up till monday and have been driving dh mad by complaining that i'm not feeling sick anymore so surely something must be wrong? Am just hoping that this pg is similar to my first and crossing my fingers.

Try not to worry but if you are really concerned, why not give your mw a call and explain your worries and she may be able to give you more advice.

Thanks for the replies, its so hard to be rational at the moment. I'm normally a bit of a control freak so I'm finding not knowing if eveything is ok really difficult. It also feels so wrong to wish you were feeling sick when all I've done for the last 4 weeks is complain about feeling sick! DP has the patience of a saint. I guess I'm not all that nice to live with at the moment.

In both my pregnancies my nausea (with DS) and sickness (with DD) pretty much stopped at around 10 weeks. There were no problems either time, it must have been my hormones settling down.

xMrsSx · 24/09/2010 21:02

Don't worry about being rational - I think pregnancy and rationality go together only rarely!

I had exactly the same thing happen to me,.. wished way the ms for weeks then one day (at about 10 weeks) it disappeared... cue me panicking... then it came back a few days later,... cue me moaning again. Finally diappeared around 12 weeks ish.

I am now 36 weeks.

I know not everyones story is the same and sometimes there is bad news, but the likelyhood is that everything is fine. I won't tell you not to worry cos thats impossible. Just look after yourself. (and get used to the not being in control thing!!)

brettgirl2 · 24/09/2010 21:34

Please don't worry - the symptoms I think are very on and off.

Try to just enjoy feeling well!

lilmamma · 25/09/2010 12:48

my daughter had no sickness for the few part and then wham, day and night until well over 20+ weeks,so just be pleased it has gone for now,its a worry though when these things stop and start..she is now 27 weeks and still has the odd day of nausea..

whomovedmychocolate · 25/09/2010 12:55

Most people find sickness is worst between weeks five and nine and then abate. You have nothing to worry about. :)

angels1 · 25/09/2010 13:40

don't panic - I was really really sick and had occasional days where it sort of dissapeared. I spent the whole time I was feeling sick miserable at feeling sick and then the whole time when I didn't feeling miserable as I wondered why I wasn't and if something was wrong! From about 10 weeks mine got alot more up and down instead of constant - as soon as it kicks back in again (assuming it does - you could be a lucky one where it stops about now) soon you'll soon be wishing it was still gone! Best of luck with the pg btw :)

sloathy · 25/09/2010 20:11

Thanks everyone. I've had the odd wave today but still much much milder than before. Have decided to think positive until there is a reason to think otherwise and consider myself lucky!

Hi Sloathy,

I made a similar post just the other day. I'm ten weeks on Monday. I'm not a sicky person - and normally hoover up any food in sight - so I knew I had bad morning sickness when there were some things I just couldn't face anymore and I lost my appetite (although I never actually threw up). My boobs were also really sore. At a couple of days before nine weeks my sickness completely disappeared. My boobs are now nowhere near as sore. My obs gave me a scan just to reassure me and the heartbeat was still there (I'd had a scan just the week before). I keep going on at hubby/mum that I just don't 'feel' pregnant anymore but they just keep telling me not to be so daft. So now it's another two week wait until the 12 week scan! I totally sympathise with how you feel!

1Catherine1 · 26/09/2010 13:11

don't worry, it will be back with vengeance tomorrow, or maybe the day after, then you'll wish it away again.

My ms would randomly disappear for a day or two at a time between 8 and 11 weeks. Scared me to death at the time but next time I was curled up around the toilet I thought what an idiot I was. Now at 15w I consider myself lucky that my ms is about once a week now instead :) Hopefully it'll go all together next week!

ecuse · 27/09/2010 09:58

I hadn't been feeling very sick, but had been a bit nauseous, and it disappeared around 9 weeks. I was a little bit worried so called the midwife line for advice. I may have laid it on a bit thick about how sick I'd been previously and how worried I was, but I directly asked them whether they'd send me for an early scan to check all is well, and the midwife called the Early Pregnancy Unit and persuaded them to give me an appointment for an early scan. All was fine, and the scan technician told me it was totally normal to stop having symptoms at around 9 or 10 weeks. So a) don't worry too much, and b) have a cheeky go at seeing if they can get you an earlier scan. I feel so much better and more confident having seen a scan with a heartbeat. Am still only 10+6 but managing to panic much less about mc and whatnot. I know I'm not out of the danger zone yet, but I'm managing to accept the risk rather than panicking about it.

Mines just disappeared also and I’m 10+5 and I have the same worry, strong nails suddenly breaking when they’ve grown so quickly with pregnancy, boobs back to normal. I’m definately worried. My scan is nearly two weeks away, it cant come quick enough xx

LexMi12 · 25/09/2019 12:46

Hello!! Can I ask, was everything okay with your pregnancy in the end? I’m having similar issues and I’m just very scared

Eggcellent29 · 25/09/2019 14:17

Hi there

I’m sorry to hear that you’re worrying!

I’ve been through this with both of my pregnancies. One ended in a missed miscarriage and one is ongoing at 18 weeks.

There was no difference in my symptoms with either pregnancy. I know it’s hard, but please don’t do what I did and torture yourself over symptoms coming and going. They really, really don’t mean anything.

I’m not trying to worry you more - I guess what I’m trying to say is that the intensity of symptoms is not predictive of pregnancy outcomes, so not worth worrying about x
