Shooting Pains in the You-Know-Where

I had this last pregnancy too, but not until I was at least 6 months - i.e. decidedly whale-like. Now I'm only 15 weeks and I have the awful pleasure of feeling like someone's sticking a knife up me when I stand (and sometimes sitting). I could understand this when I weighed twice Windsor Castle as it felt like the head of the baby was grinding on my pelvis, but at the moment I have a neat little bump. My physical condition is a lot worse this time - I am nowhere near as fit and my pelvic floor is a train wreck, which may be why it's started earlier?

Does anyone know what this is? Last pregnancy the French doctors told me to stop complaining and 'yes that happens'. The Osteopath I saw said it was due to the pelvic muscles cramping and I needed to stretch, which didn't help.

Any advice on how to minimise the pain would be most appreciated.

No advice but I have this too at 20 weeks, it's horrible isn't it? I find oo'hing loudly and then embarassing people by telling them what it is about helps me but that's probably just me :)

Thanks for the sympathy. Last time I could rationalise the pain as I couldn't see my feet at the time, but this is just silly.

My current doctor seems a lot more sympathetic than the last one and see if she has any advice...

I get this too (at 18 weeks)... especially when shopping which is very annoying as it is my fave hobby!

i asked my doc and he said that it is normal to get piercing pains in that area.. seeing as everything is opening up etc down there.... nice..! Blush

I can sympathise - it started at about 11 weeks for me (first pregnancy). Doctor was hugly sympathetic when I went to see her, said 'ooh, we must fix this, you can't go round in that much pain for the next 6+ months' and did some tests for infections. All came back clear (three times!) and the sysmapthy dried up into a 'its mechanical rather than an infection. Nothing we can do, just part of pregnancy' Sad

By about 20 weeks I was in constant pain not just after over exerting myself. Now, at 35 weeks, I am just waiting for the end so that I can get my body back and get some sleep! Seems bizarre to others that I think I'll get more sleep when I have newborn twins, but they've no idea how hard it is to sleep when nothing will stop your fanjo hurting Blush

Sorry to hear there are others afflicted. I really want to keep active as I've been having numbness in my legs, which is really not good and was only helped by going for a good long walk (I had very sedentary habits during the first trimester). However, that's not going to happen if I have to suffer this. Hoping I won't be affected in the pool.

Pregnancy no. 1 was a PITA but no. 2 is turning out worse... I think there is a message here.
