Anyone had a breech baby turn after 37 weeks and when did it happen?

I'm 37 and a half weeks and as far as I'm aware my baby is still in the breech position. I've been trying lots of bum in the air positions despite the consultant saying it's unlikely to turn on it's own. Anecdotally though lots of people I speak to seem to know someone who's baby turned at the last minute.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it has happened to them what it felt like (is there no doubt it turned) and when it happened (is it likely to happen when you're in one of the positions).
Am kind of resigned to fact I will have an ELCS and it's really helped reading people's positive comments about them on here but am still holding a tiny bit of hope it's going to move!

My MIL told me she was booked in for a elcs with my DP and the morning she went in for it he'd turned (this was just a few days before her due date). So they just let her carry on and he came naturally the right way round a week later. So you never know!
Don't be worried about having a cs. My sister wanted a completely natural intervention-free water birth with her DD. She ended up having almost every type of intervention ending in an emcs. Even a couple of hours later she said she didn't care any more how it had all happened, she was just happy to know her baby was safe and healthy. She hasn't dwelled on it since, although it has only been 4 days.

Yep me! My ds was born in January, he was breech for aaaaaaaaagggess. So much so that when he was born, he had a wee "hairband" imprint of my rib on his head!!. I, like you, resigned myself to an ELCS as at 37 week scan, he still hadnt turned.

I think I had about 10 threads on here about it!! Grin Loads said that I would know when he turned, how it felt - some said it hurt etc...

In the end, I didnt feel a thing!! I went in for a scan at about 38 and a half weeks and he was in the correct position!.

The very best of luck, really hope baby moves for you.

With DD2 I had polyhydramnios (excess fluids) and she was breech right up to 38 weeks. So the plan was to take me in at 38 weeks to turn her, then induce me immediately as they feared that with all the excess fluids she would turn back.

Whilst we were in the hospital they couldn't get her heart rate to stabilise and several hours later, just as they were discussing the possibility of EMCS, everything went back to normal and they discovered that she had actually turned whilst we were there - hence the crazy heart rates!

So I was sent back home again and she arrived naturally on her due date. Smile

Thanks for the replies - I've just started mat leave this week so am probably focusing on it all a bit more than when I had work to distract me.
I'm ok-ish with the idea of having a CS (though was a bit teary when I first realised it was a possibility). I'd like to experience a natural birth but if that's not possible so be it. I'm more worried about the recovery as my DH can only take 2 weeks off and we have no family nearby. Sure we'll manage somehow though.

I had CS for breech DS 5 years ago (and really didnt want it - had had long, painful back 2 back natural delivery previously and - crazily - was desperate to try again to see if I could "do it right" second time around (seems madness typing that now!)). But I have to say that my CS delivery was a wonderful, joyful experience and I recovered much more quickly and with much less pain than first time around, even though I then had a 15 month toddler too (and was 41). You will manage fine I am sure. All the best - your question has brought back happy memories.
