When is it reasonable to ask husband to stop drinking?

Hi. I'm nearly s pregnant, due 4 December. Obviously Christmas can bring lots of boozy nights out and my partner is more than willing to stop drinking at some point in case we need to make an emergency dash to the hospital etc. But when is it appropriate to start this? I know babes can come at any point but what have the rest of you done? Thanks.

Sorry to jump onto this @jo4nn492

We were in a similar situation (however husband wasn't best man it was just good friends). It was 2 days before my dd. He ended up being absolute smashed and I'm still resenting him for it. His excuse was, it won't happen that fast, it'll be hours before we'd need to go anywhere and by then he'd be sober and if not the adrenaline would help. I said I won't have him in the delivery room smelling of booze so it's up to him whether he wants to miss the birth of his first child. Anyway, he was lucky but a week later I woke up with full contractions and we had to go straight to the birthing centre. I was already 5cm at this point and we certainly couldn't have waited for hours. I'm pregnant again and he's on a drinking ban from 37 weeks and I'm not budging. He's got the choice. Stand your ground, this is about you and your baby, not him missing out on a nights drinking, no matter the circumstances.

@Peanutty86Thank you for sharing your experience. I'll be furious if I gets mortal and I'm thinking the same as you, he will not be in the room for the birth of his child if he is drunk. Don't worry I am trying my hardest to stand my ground!

I'll be 34 weeks this weekend so last sat was my dh last night out though I won't object to him having a couple at home I think in the last few weeks of pregnancy especially with the state men can get into the should abstain
