10 weeks left to go - what do you wish you had done?

Hello

I have 10 weeks left until d-day (first baby) and I keep thinking I should be making the most of these last few weeks...

What do you wish you had done (if you have already had a baby/babies) in this time?!

Are any of you in the same boat - what are you doing?!

Any ideas welcome!

read the sunday papers in full

Wish I'd gone to a few gigs or the theatre

Spend some nice times with DH.

Have lie ins.

Fill freezer with meals ready to microwave

sleep! sleep! sleep...as much as possible. Might sounds boring now, but believe me, fast forwards to 2am a few weeks from now and you will wish you did. My biggest regret is not relaxing more once my maternity leave started. Put your feet up!

seaturtle · 19/09/2010 22:40

Gone to the cinema. Even by myself. And had long afternoons in coffee shops with books and newspapers.

Long lie-ins.

Leisurely walks (if you have the energy) in parks and countryside.

Something I'm very glad I did is to get DP to take some lovely photos of me in the garden with my enormous bump. I normally hate photos of myself but I love those ones.

AnyFuleKno · 19/09/2010 22:55

oh, and get your hair did

laurenamium · 19/09/2010 23:32

i have 10 weeks and 2 days to go!im cleaning like a loony and spending my nights visiting my childless friends to avoid that awful lonely feeling!

clpsmum · 20/09/2010 13:20

sleep, read as many books (non-baby related) as poss, watch lots of films, pamper yourself

Jenko77 · 20/09/2010 13:26

I started a similar thread a while back and got lots of great ideas

Less than 4 weeks to go now and have spent a fortune on books (making the most of reading on the commute!) and catching up with friends.

Enjoy!

LutyensCBA · 20/09/2010 13:49

Read and sleep!

LutyensCBA · 20/09/2010 13:52

Oh, and don't waste a single second doing housework in the next 10 weeks (beyond the bare minimum). Once the baby's here, your house will look like a tip and will stay that way till the baby becomes about 4!

greenbeanie · 20/09/2010 14:12

LutyensCBA only the age of 4 - i thought it continued until they left home!!

moonstorm · 20/09/2010 14:24

Go out in the evenings as a couple (even if coming home earlier than you would normally do!). We miss this more than anything - childcare can be hard to find Smile

LutyensCBA · 20/09/2010 17:42

greenbeanie, you're right! I was actually thinking of the window when they're in school and the house stays tidy for the major part of the day. Then, of course, they come home Hmm Grin

EffieB · 20/09/2010 17:47

anything that you enjoy now that you can wave goodbye to for a good while when the baby comes! For me it was leisurely weekend mornings with extended breakfasts and newspapers, cinema and theatre.

Bumperlicious · 20/09/2010 18:31

Lie in bed and read the paper
Appreciate the peace and quiet
Been more vigilant with the bio oil to avoid stretch marks and eat less Grin

strandedatsea · 20/09/2010 18:34

Yes getting up late and reading the papers with a nice breakfast and a cup of (hot) coffee.

Although now I have two I think back to when it was just me and one baby and wonder why I found it all so much work (but I did, believe me, I did!).

missp2010 · 20/09/2010 19:56

Sleep as much as you can.
Pamper yourself, get your hair cut, go and have a facial, massage, pedicure etc.
Go shopping, buy any things you want/need for the baby, house, you etc. Buy birthday/christmas presents in advance. And have lots of breaks in nice cafes that aren't child friendly as you wont see the inside of one of these for a few years once baby is here!! Shopping with a baby is easy while they're tiny and sleep a lot but this stage doesn't last long!

DomesticG0ddess · 20/09/2010 20:03

Go out for some nice meals with DP/DH - I am expecting DS2, and although a bit knackered in the evening have made the effort to go out a few times over the summer because we found a nice babysitter and it will be ages before we'll be able to leave a new one with her. Go and have some nice treatments - pedicure, manicure, reflexology. Food in freezer, bit of Xmas shopping, all good tips.

Call some friends for long chats on the phone, or send them some long emails. Read lots of novels. Enjoy some lazy weekend brunches with the paper. Get some exercise.

Good luck!

I had my baby bang on 30 weeks. He is fit and healthy now. I would have made the most of my sleep - even when he was in hospital i had to get up to express milk at 3am.
I would have had my hair cut. I would have also been shopping - i had nothing except bedding and clothes my mum had bought!

As he was in hospital for six weeks we had couple time then infact having him early really brought us together

Stangirl · 24/09/2010 16:16

Weekend lie-ins and Tv watching.
I had a booked C-section so I knew when my last day was going to be and went to the seaside with DP the day before and had a lovely lunch. Also went clubbing 3 days beforehand.
