crumpets/muffins worked for me for a time.

also, if you can get into the supermarket without feeling sick have a browse and buy anything that grabs your fancy (regardless of nutritional value).

i have found that not eating because i don't fancy something or i'm queasy is a vicious circle and i end up not eating anything at all. whereas if i can eat and keep something down i can then focus on some healthy food once my system has calmed down.

cluelessnchaos · 17/09/2010 19:13

cream crackers/ fizzy sweeties/bacon rolls, from 12 weeks I have been much more selective

Yorkstar · 17/09/2010 20:32

No advice but im exactly the same at 8+2. Everything dh suggests is a no no. Im living on cream crackers and crumpets :o but to be honest don't even want to eat them. Hope it passes soon as i love food!

Hevster · 17/09/2010 20:34

yorkshire puddings were good for me!

Bumperlicious · 17/09/2010 20:40

Coco pops
Cheesy pasta, basically any stodgy food.
Agree with fizzy sweets
Cake

Whatever you fancy, don't worry too much about what it is. You just have to get through these few months best you can.

Buttered toast and fizzy sweets. What is it aboutfizzy sweets!? They did the trick for me too!

burtoc · 17/09/2010 21:30

Kids sweets and crisps worked for me in the beginning, lived on monster munch and then moved onto mccoys!

The sweets, I can't get enough of haribo, jelly tots, tootie frooties - anything kid based.

I found that if I was asked what I wanted I couldn't answer and the thought of thinking about what I wanted or how it would be put together would make me heave on the spot, but if food was put in front of me, I could pick at it and the one meal I could keep down every time was roast dinner!!!

PammyBakes · 17/09/2010 21:47

Macaroni cheese from Marks and Spencers, works for me at the moment!

estya · 18/09/2010 09:35

Cold mashed potato. When things got really bad thats all I could stomach. (because its cold it doesn't smell - it was the smell of food that got me wretching)

Samraves · 18/09/2010 09:48

Potato waffles and salt and vinegar crisps (and i have a really sweet tooth - dont normally eat crisps!) and I second the sweets - fruity sweets. Melon can be nice too and a bit more healthy

GrumpyFish · 18/09/2010 11:06

I'm 8+1 and can also keep very little down. My usually healthy diet has gone to pot. Things I can normally eat / drink in very small quantities are: Ribena, satsumas, white bread toast with butter, grapes, dairy milk chocolate, salt & vinegar crisps, scrambled eggs. But it really has to be just a small amount, e.g. one square of chocolate, one egg. I'm going for little snacks every couple of hours (and lots of Ribena!). May we all feel better soon!

I've been eating a load of rubbish for the past month! Toast with honey is the easiest thing for me to eat. Other non-nauseating foods are for me are; potato waffles, plain pasta with no sauce, cornflakes, mild noodles, mashed potatos and peas, sour sherbet sweets, tuc crackers, salt and vinegar crisps, plain biscuits, apple danishes.

Eating little and often when you feel you can is a good strategy for many. If I don't eat something first thing in the morning, I struggle all afternoon.

It does get better though! I'm 10+5 and have been able to eat avocado and tomato on toast this week. Also managed some very mild veg korma recently. Some days are still bad, but I have more days where it's less of a struggle now.

Finding it really hard to stay hydrated though as I struggle drinking water and other drinks are pretty unappetising at present. Constantly taking small sips all day just to get 1 litre a day. Urgh.

youngblowfish · 18/09/2010 13:46

Scrambled eggs and omelets saved me. In general carbs have been good to me too, but others have already mentioned pastas, bread, cream crackers, potatoes etc. Rice is also good, but only if you do not end up throwing it up (sorry, TMI). I also relied on soups a lot - they are great for a light lunch.

lucielooo · 18/09/2010 13:50

chocolate weetos, mashed potato, when I've felt really bad ryvita with marmite and philadelphia has been a life-line!

CupcakesHay · 18/09/2010 13:53

I lived off orange cooloured food - for some reason the only thin i felt like eating - and could keep down was: OJ, Tomato soup, Cheetos and Fanta.... and occasionally red leicester cheese.

I think toast might be a good bet?

Don't worry too much on the nutrition front, as you can catch up later on - plus your baby sucks nutrients from the stores in your body - so it'll be fine.

Bonners · 18/09/2010 19:20

scones with butter and jam, oranges and apples, sparkling water, crisps and chips and scrambled eggs with toast. That was about it for 20 weeks.
I think this is different for everyone though. I couldn't stand hot liquids like soup or tea and everyone said ginger biscuits which made me even more nauseous.

Definitely try for carbs!

Vistana · 18/09/2010 19:25

My doctor recommended drinking lucazade (it made me tens times worse) but if you can stand it its supposed to be good.

Water crackers and frosted shreddies were all I could manage for a few weeks. Frosted shreddies have alot of folic acid and have a bit of sweetness so I could just about enjoy eating them dry.

I also drank a few rehydration drinks as i couldn't even keep water down but the salty rehydration drinks kept me going till I could drink something and keep it down.

It will soon pass and you'll be fretting about how quickly the last 30 weeks have gone! The first trimester for me was the worst for time stopping, now I am 3 weeks to my due date and thinking help I'm not ready!
My tip for later is to enjoy the middle weeks when you will feel back to normal and full of life :)

butterfly444 · 22/09/2010 19:38

Thanks for the advise girls! I think i give fizzy sweets ago!! :)

bagels, bagels, bagels.

carb overload stopped me feeling sick (though my hips didn't like me too much for it!)

Sparklies · 22/09/2010 23:54

Cheesestrings. They were half price in Sainsburys last week and I stocked up!

I would love fizzy sweets but I'm really paying the price with dental work following my last pregnancy.. I hadn't needed a filling for decades and suddenly I needed loads. Probably because I hadn't eaten sweets for decades before that pregnancy.. bleh.

ohnororo · 23/09/2010 01:31

Toast, plain cereal and carbs generally! Also big glasses of cold milk.
