Are you in pain a lot? Because that's not really normal in early pregnancy.

During pregnancy is the only time you are actually allowed to panic over every little thing. The back pain is normal, I suffer with it too but go to see your doctor they will refer you to physio and you will be glad you did.

I phoned the NHS direct yesterday to ask if I could take the Lockets throat sweets for my sore throat since I am a tad ill atm. I felt a bit silly but the woman was great and checked it out and told me I was right to phone first to check. Some of the ingredients of some throat sweets have been known to have negative effects on the baby lucky for me these weren't lockets. My OH wants me to go to the doctor for the flu I have atm but I've done my reading and know that its perfectly normal to get sick and I'm stuck with paracetamol and water as my only cure.

I'm not a big one for going to the docs but when pregnant I tell myself I'm not going for me I am going for the baby and I'd never forgive myself for not going and causing damage to my unborn baby just coz I felt daft. There is always someone who has asked a more stupid question or made more fuss than you so go and make an appointment and I hope they can help Smile

but are the cramps not normal to have?

Could you phone your midwife and ask, if you don't want to go to the GP? They are used to people phoning up all the time.

mum2oneloudbaby · 15/09/2010 15:29

claire87 - what sort of cramps? to be honest if you are talking about leg cramps i don't normally get those until nearer the end certainly not at the beginning and usually during the night when i get them. so it may need checking out.

my philosophy with this pg (my 2nd) is that i get everything checked out whether it's just a phone call to the mw or a visit to the gp depending on how serious i feel it is.

i am so glad that i have because i am now having physio for my spd and seeing an osteopath for spd and trapped nerve in my back. amongst other things they have sorted for me.

Could be nothing, could be something...

GO AND SEE YOUR DOCTOR AND GET CHECKED OUT (yes, I am shouting, but in a kindly/concerned kind of way)
Smile

no not leg cramps mum2oneloudbaby (loving the name by the way)

its cramps all across my belly high and low.

if i am sitting for to long i cant stand up straight afterwords cause it feels like something is going to rip inside if i stand up straight...its really weird cause i was never like this first time round...all my friends tell me the pain are all normal.

Please go see your doctor, they won't mind being consulted about the tiniest things. It's their job. Better to have your mind at ease than be worried about bothering the doctor.

I went to see mine several times ( about once a month) during pregnancy. On my last visit he said to me I mean this in the nicest way but I hope not to see you until after birth. Ironically I had a premature baby 2 days later so he got his wish. Stupidly I waited for few hours before going to hospital when my waters broke and now I wish I hadn't. Luckily baby was fine.

So go see the doctor, you and your baby are important. I've known people to go see doctor over trivial matters and this is not the case.

Sorry to be bossy.
Just want you to get checked out and reassured.

I've never had to see my doctor (up to now!) during any of my pregnancies, this is number 3. I think she'll be busy seeing ill people, besides, you can pick up all sorts in waiting rooms!

If you have problems/ concerns I think calling the mw is the best bet, s/he's the expert after all, and it's thier job to deal with neurotic concerned pregnant ladies, then they take the pressure off the busy quack too.

Hope you're feeling better OP, I bet they say it's 'growing' pains!Smile

claire87 · 15/09/2010 18:01

thats why i dont want to go lol just for them to tell me its just the baby growing lol really worries me cause me and best friend were pregnant together and she went of a scan at 16 weeks to see how things were coming on and at that scan she found out the baby was dead :( it was such an awful thing....she had to give birth to the baby and i think ever since then i have been worried about every little thing x

You know if your doctor is hard to book in with give NHS direct a call. Describe it to them and they will tell you quickly if its normal growing pain or if it needs to be checked out. I hate going to my doctors since it takes so long to get in with them. I'd make the most of them before the government scraps it.

Awww, no wonder you're so worried, that's awful.

But, these things happen (rarely thankfully) and I think that if the worst is going to happen, it'll happen anyway no matter if you are at the docs every week, worrying your head off, or not.

I do have a habit of over simplifying matters and I hope you don't think I'm being flippant. I'm just trying to help

But really try to chill out........pink wafer?
