Sore patch under boob....Help/ouch!

I am currently still wearing my pre-pregnancy (underwired) bra (size 38G). With very good reason. The closest shop that sells maternity bras is in another town, over 30 miles away, and neither me nor DP can drive. We were planning to go to the mothercare there in a fortnights' time, by train and bus. However...yesterday I had a small red patch under my boob (only one?!) and today it is enormous, really red and sore and ouchy. There is no way we can get there, or afford bras in my new size (which I estimate is roughly 40/42H/J) at £30 each until two weeks time. I could however afford a cheapy underwired from BHS tomorrow (if they have any large enough, which is doubtful)...I know M&S don't go big enough, and those are the only 2 shops that sell bras in larger sizes in my town.

What would you suggest to relieve the ouchiness, other than talcum powder, which I'm using as the reashy bit is all weepy tonight. And should I TRY to get a cheapy bra to make do with till I can get to mothercare. I can't order online as I need to be properly fitted, as I can only guesstimate my size. HELP!

hmmm well, i think you;ll be lucky to get anything in mothercare in your size!!! i needed a 32/34 g/h and couldn't get anything in there
plus, they aren't great at measuring.

if i were you i would def just get a larger interim bra.
i know you probably won't want to wear a non-underwired one, but i would say get one even to just wear round the house while the sore patch heals, even if you put an old one on to go out

leave it off as much as possible when home too

were you planning on getting feeding bras or just soft maternity bras?

CardyMow · 13/09/2010 22:21

Feeding bras. tbh I am having problems sourcing hammocks bras large enough! I'm just a bit concerned that I won't find ANYTHING in my town in my size, never mind if it's got an underwire or not! DP keeps telling me to go to millets and buy two tents to sew together. I may have to kill him in painful ways if he suggests that again!

lol!
tbh i woujldn't buy feeding bras yet. you may well change more! plus after baby is born you tend to shrink back a bit (in the back at least, even if boobs don't)
lovely ladies at rigby and peller said they normally fit people at about 6 weeks after baby is born so they can be more certain the bra will last.
they recommended just buying a cheap one to start with

look up bravado bras, they're very nice and they come in small, medium, large because they're really stretchy so can cover a range of sizes.

can you get to a bravissimo? they'tre good too

thisisyesterday · 13/09/2010 22:28

or one of these

CardyMow · 13/09/2010 22:32

Thing is, not sure about buying online, it's not as if you can send it back if it doesn't fit, really, is it? It's not like they could re-sell it or what-not if it's been on someone else's boobs??!! And Bravissimo have shops????? Not in my backwards part of the country. I live in Colchester Essex, and unless you want a charity shop, a subway or a nail bar, there are really not that many other shops. There's better in Ipswich, but it's a nightmare to get to without a car.

Of course you can send bras back to Bravissimo if they don't fit! Buying a bra online and then sending it back is no different to trying one on in the shop changing room and then deciding you don't like it or it doesn't fit. All shops will let you try a bra on before you buy.

I've got something similar, started as itchy, now more burning. I'm moisturising it lots with aveeno, seems to work. And have taken to wearing bikini tops to work (with clothes on top Smile ), much more comfy than bras. Mind you, I'm not overly blessed in the boobage department.

Put some sudocreme on it, will relieve pain and calm redness. You have my sympathies am 18 weeks, I take bra off as soon as I'm in the house mind you I'm a bit of a slattern Wink
