x-rays

Hi.

Found out I am expecting last week,I am about 4 weeks. DD had an x ray 2 weeks ago (before I knew I was pregnant) and I was in the room when they x-rayed her, although I was standing behind the screen where the radiographer stands.
Could this be anything to worry about?

Haven't been to the doctor/midwife yet as I was told to wait until I was 7-8weeks so haven't discussed this with anyone.
Thanks.

If you were behind the screen then I would think you'd be quite safe.
Plus that must have been about the time of conception so really nothing there at the time.
I wouldn't worry.

I don't even think an X-ray on a pregnant person is that bad, just something that you avoid if possible.

The screens are made of lead, even the glass. The radiographers stand behind them, even the pregnant ones (we do have them) so they are perfectly safe. If it helps for you to discuss this with your GP/midwife then do this, in all honesty though, the lead screen would have protected you and your baby.
Congratulations by the way Smile

I'm a radiographer and I'm pregnant, we still work (standing behind the screen) you will be absolutely fine.

If you take your daughter again best to let someone else go in with her as the radiographers prefer you not to go in if possible but this is just to give you the utmost protection, you can still be x-rayed yourself if you are pregnant and it is clinically necessary.

Hope you are feeling ok about it now, good luck with your pregnancy xx

Thank you for all your advice, I feel so much better now, hadn't thought about it until yesterday then really panicked. Hadn't even thought about pregnant radiographers makes sense now. I think she will have to have another x-ray in a few weeks, to make sure the fracture has healed so will try and get dp to come and I'll wait outside.

Thanks again and thanks for the good luck wishes and congratulations. Smile

Ditto as above - I am pregnant and a radiographer. You are absolutely safe behind the screen (we have regular does checks and have NO dose show up and bear in mind we are behind those screens all day!). Don't worry about it. Hope your DD mends soon! Grin
