Hello,

Am currently 32 weeks pregnant tomorrow and since Thursday have been having strong contractions - sometimes quite frequent and often very painful.
A couple of times have been stopped in my tracks with them.

Last pg, by the time I was in this much pain I was 5cm dilated and had had my waters artificially ruptured!!

Did fly up to the hospital on Thursday when it all began, very much in the frame of mind that this was IT, but after being on a monitor and having a prem. labour test, it was decided that it wasn't prem. labour, just probably Braxton Hicks.

I have had Braxtons before and am not a dramatic person, so am not rushing back to the hospital to see what's going on (I know for a fact all that will happen is same again, and I already feel like a fool after last time! Pretty sure the doc thought I was a crazy pg lady Hmm).

They are ok when not moving and worse when walking around.

DH back at work tomorrow so starting to panic as to how to cope (ds is 23 months) - and wondering to myself, could this be a slow labour?
Had slow labour last time, which was relatively pain-free.
Anyone else experienced painful Braxton Hicks? Do I just carry on and keep calm or do I ask for someone to look at it again?

Don't worry about feeling foolish, I know women who had 3 and still aren't sure if they are in labour with DC4 or not.

I had painful BH with DC2, but I timed them and they weren't regular. I also had some contractions a few days before both births and they were regular, then stopped.

Time them and if you are worried at all have a chat with MW or go to the hospital.

I started having very similar sounding BH at 28 weeks I think. They weren't regular just very painful, especially when walking. To me it sounds like BH but you should definitely keep an eye on it.

Hi I'm 33+3 and have been getting BH for the last week or so mainly in the evenings. But I always assumed BH were just tightenings, mine is bottom of bump period like pains that last 30 secs or so & happen every 10mins or so. However yesterday I had them on & off through out the day. I've read that if you walk whilst having BH they ease whereas labour pains don't. Also if you have a full bladder it can make BH worse. Suppose it could always be baby going lower & putting more pressure down there.
I think you should keep an eye on things & if they are getting more painful & regular then definitely don't be embarrassed to go to the hospital or have you got a midwife you can call?
I think the maternity hospitals get more peed off with people phoning up to ask how/when they should concieve if they want a girl/boy!!!!

Thanks all :)

Very reassuring. Just can't believe how painful they are, cinsidering my memories of them last time were of no pain at all, but just nice tightenings.

I suppose it's just another exciting reminder of the end being in sight!
My body has never been this efficient before! Ha ha!
