I'm posting on behalf of my cousin, she's 33 weeks pg and for the past few days has been experiencing rib pain, and her bump has been going hard, like contracting and it has been mildly painful, she went to hospital yesterday who were a bit useless, they think that baby is laying diaganoly (but not sure) they put her on a monitor and saw slow spikes???? then discharged her, is this kind of activity normal for this stage?

Did they scan her?

If they were concerned they woild have kept her in surely?

My DD was oblique and then breech which caused a lot of rib pain as a result

no they didn't scan, but she had a previous bad bad labour/birth 7 years ago and is now under consultant care.
I would like to think that if they were really worried they would keep her in.
hopefully it is just the posision that baby is in.
thanks for the reply.

Aw ... Of course your cousin should call if she is still in pain or needs more advice

Honestly, there were days when i could barely move as DDs head was wedged under my ribs

It can be very, very painful

My baby was transverse breech and has now gone back to being full breech v recently.

The tightenings were more frequent, they are braxton hicks because she was lying sideways, these are the spikes. My ribs were bloody agony due to how she was lying.

I now have relief as she has turned, albeit the wrong way.

its good to know that there is a simple explanation for her pain, at least we know its not increadabley bad, they did say she had a substantial baby tho!111
