Mozzarella, Ricotta, Cottage Cheese and Parmesan - also hot flushes

Hi
I really have to check this time - when I was pregnant with ds I avoided all of the above cheeses because I was not sure if they were unpasteurised or not, this time though I would really like to know for sure because I may NEED to eat mozzarella at some point.
Also, has anyone else been getting hot flushes? I am six weeks pregnant and have so far had 2 hot flushes - is this normal? I thought you only had them if you were going through the menopause???

All of them are fine according to the government's Food Standards Agency. The cheeses to avoid are runny cheeses with rind - eg brie and blue cheeses. ALL hard cheeses are safe, even if not pasteurized, as the process of making the cheese kills bacteria and the dry nature of the cheese makes it near impossible for any Listeria to grow. Also, cooked cheeses are safe so you can eat, say brie or blue cheese if cooked to sizzling in a lasagne or on a pizza. Mozzarella is as safe as cheddar. Feta has a question mark over it but a pasteurised product would almost certainly be safe. I'd eat it.

Arabella2, I have had occasional hot flush type feelings throughout this pregnancy (now 39 weeks). In fact, I could feel my ears and cheeks burning as my temperature was taken last week as part of my check-up for my elective c/s. And it was reassuringly normal considering the usual hospital inferno ambience. I've wondered what these flushes were too and have been a bit anxious that they were the start of some feverish illness but they have never amounted to anything.
As Aloha is such a cheese expert I wonder if she could confirm that mozzarella di buffala is included in the "safe" category (on the chance that it is maybe not made with pasteurised milk)? I NEEDED to eat a mozzarella and tomato salad yesterday and as usual started pondering this one AFTER I had eaten the salad. The tub had nothing on it to say it was made with unpasteurised milk so am assuming it was OK.
