I'm 35 weeks PG, and following a blood test pre my 2nd dose of anti-D on Tuesday, my right arm has come up in itchy white fluid-filled tiny bumps, just on the crook of my elbow where the midwife took blood (the anti-D jab was given at the top of my left arm, so i don't think it's related to that). I saw my GP about it this morning, and she seemed unconcerned and said it was probably just a new patch of eczema. I'm not convinced, as i've never had eczema there before, and it seems too much of a coincidence, would appreciate some advice. Thanks x

I'm not Mears (obviously) but I did have this when pregnant with my dd. if I recall correctly I was about 20-30 weeks pregnant cant remember exactly and I came out on my right arm first then it spread to my left. Looked like tons of itchy mossie bites. Dr thought it might be a condition called PUPP which I had to look up on netdoctor.co.uk but dont think it was, then they thought it might be cholestasis but that came back wrong too. What they finally thought it was is that sometimes when you have a surge of pregnancy hormones you body reacts as if its an allergy hence the hives on your arms. Mine went within a week. The doctor prescribed hydrocortisone which just made them loads worse so I stopped taking them. I just showered a lot with cold water for a bit of relief and used E45 shower lotion and cream so the area was well moisturised.

Actually, just remembered that they spread all over my back and legs too, I had forgotten that. It was a bit frightening but didnt last long. Drs also said you can get these allergies when under stress, not sure if I was stressed or not but that might be an option.

Hope it all clears up for you soon xx

thanks Hockeymum. I am certainly under a bit of stress at the mo, so maybe that's the cause. I tried hydrocortisone last night, which stopped the itching, and the rash doesn't seem any worse, so i think i'll stop worrying about it and mention it to my MW on Tuesday.

I'm sure that's it, but white fluid-filled bumps don't sound like eczema at all - weird comment from GP.

hi - my DH's excema presents as tiny bumps, almost blistery, like you describe, mostly around his hands and forearms.

He gets this when he's really stressed, in addition to the normal red, scaly excema. Sometimes it is a reaction to certain fabrics...did you have to hold a bit of gauze or cotton wool against the puncture in your arm?

Hope it passes soon
