Strong Braxton Hicks - what helps?

I've been experiencing painful (as in not just uncomfortable) Braxton Hicks this morning, about two or three in past hour (am 28+4).
It's painful to the point that I'm not sure I can manage the ten-minute walk to work, but as a temp, if I don't go I don't get paid, and I'm doing holiday cover this week.

Anything to ease the pain greatly appreciated - sadly I can't have a bath unless I want to freeze as no hot water in flat at moment.

Thanks for any advice.

Yours, squeezedly.

Same here (am 35 weeks). Mine seem to ease up when I walk around. Also apparently drinking and going to the loo help, as dehydration and full bladders can make them worse. I actually resorted to paracetamol the other day, not sure if it actually worked or they just went away on their own.

Will be interested to see if others have any better advice!

Thanks Jacks! Will try the drinking-lots-of-water idea. I took paracetemol this morning, which worked for about an hour - or, as you say, they may have just gone away on their own. Starting to feel a bit uncomfortable again now.

Managed to walk to work, at least.

No advice, only sympathy. Had very strong BH with DD. Just try and take it easier: walk more slowly etc etc

If it's any consolation, you may find the first few hours of real contractions easier to handle....

Thanks Table. Am seeing it a useful warning - must not hold my breath but must breathe through it. Roll on antenatal classes.
