Okay, where do I start... this message is coming to you via blackberry from hospital!..and so the story begins - 10am Saturday get up make a cuppa for me and OH, hand him his and pop mine on coffee table turn to sit down, knee completely dislocates and I make the split decision to avoid landing on bump..resulting in a cracking noise that will haunt me forever!! My screams possibly woke up everyone in the street! OH rushed over and I asked him what it looked like, he took one look at me and said well your knee is on the side of your leg and your foot is pointing the wrong way! Fast forward 4 days lots of drama + a new bionic ankle that can't be cast until I stop swelling! However just to throw even more fun into the mix I'm 37 weeks, I lost my mucus plug yesterday, head is engaged and getting regular tightenings. So my questions are I can't use my leg for 6 weeks..what are the chances of him staying in for 5 more weeks? Anyone who's had their ankle pinned back together how long before you were walking unaided? As my maternity leave was due to start this Friday am I classed as being on maternity or sick leave after Friday? Finally...anyone who had this happen to them please tell me everything will be okay!!! Lol

One more unrelated thing...to those who discussed LFD babies with me it seems I have an incredible shrinking baby..who 2 weeks ago had a HC on the 97th Centile..Monday that was re-calculated as being on the 50th Centile and this bohemoth baby is set to be a mind blowing 8lb! I'm probably a bit more tense that normal but I can't believe they could get it so wrong!! Please girls cheer me up :) x

Wow.

Not much help but you need to prepare for not being too mobile with baby.
Odds are not good you'll make it 5weeks and you'll be hobbling a little while after that.

Speaking of which, talk to your doctors tomorrow and get an estimate of when you'll be mobile.
Then you can really get planning.

And I hope it all goes really, really well.

Goodness me, that's quite some timing...

I have nothing helpful to say - Sorry! - although if you're breastfeeding then the lack of mobility might be less noticable - I seem to have been pretty much glued to the settee half the day (and night) since having my little one 4 weeks ago..

Ah yes, that old equation:

Emotional trauma + time = humour
