advice about bump

Hi All

Just looking for a bit of advice really...

I am 20+5 but just a little concerned about a lack of a proper bump. I have a small bump that is very low down (under my belly button) but it is flabby rather than hard. Some days it is bigger than others...

I know every woman is different etc but all the other mums-to-be that i have met who are the same weeks as me or even less, have a hard bump that starts from under their boobs and is lovely and rounded - like a pregnant lady should look.

Is anyone else like this? Do you think i should be worried at all / need to see the midwife?

Husband keeps telling me not to worry but i look so different to any other pregant woman i have met...

Any advice gratfully received, ta

I didn't really have a bump with my first until I was past 6 months.

Even with this one my second I was quite a while before I had a hard bump (unless I was bloated).

Have you had your 20 week scan?

My bump has always been low down, I didnt show over my belly button til about 26/28 weeks i think. I think mine is to do with having a long torso - enough space inside to not stick out very far, also not reach over the belly button.

I dont think you should worry at all unless you feel less movement. Have you had your 20 week scan yet? That should put your mind at rest.

I'm 40+4 now and my bump caught up eventually! Now I cant see my toes and I need help getting out of the sofa. Grin

Thanks both

Yes, had my 20 week scan and could see baby thrashing around (although not felt any movement yet either but have anterior placenta which i'm told will cushion movement!)

I am quite tall i suppose (5ft 8 in) so maybe like you ethelina i have enough room inside for the time being. Just feel like i look so different to everyone else but its nice to get some reassurance from others,

thanks again...

Hehe re thrashing around Wink That will become all too familiar feeling soon even with anterior placenta, 3am is a good time to be kicked awake I found. MN comes in useful at that time of night. Grin

At my antenatal classes I found there were all shapes and sizes, some women looked overdue when they werent much different in weeks to me, others looked gym-fit with a tiny bump (me - small bump but NOT gym-fit). It seems to me that first pregnancies take a longer time to show and subsequent ones poke out a lot earlier, maybe to do with muscle memory?

One bonus I noticed with a low unpokey-outey bump was/is a distinct lack of heartburn as little pressure on stomach, also I haven't really suffered from overbalancing/waddling etc as my centre of balance is quite central. Means I can walk quite normally.

But even 3 weeks ago a workman at my house asked where we had put the baby today as it was so quiet, he didnt realise I was still pregnant! Confused

Amoney I'm well over 5ft 10in and I had the same sort of bump as you, in fact it's only in the last few weeks (33 weeks now) that I have 'popped' so to speak. I'm sure theres nothing to worry about and your baby just has a bit more extra room than others due to your tallness. I have an anterior placenta as well, your baby will probably pick a little group of muscles in your side to torment you with (as mine does) and keep you awake at night. Congratulations by the way!!

Lucky you! I'm 5' 8" too and keep being asked if I'm having twins! (Not as far as I know...)

thanks everyone, it is a relief to know i am not the only one... and i suppose i should feel lucky that i haven't got too much to carry around yet

hermya321 when did you start feeling your baby move?
