20 weeks and although my nipples have been very sensitive since pregnant, tonight when I got home after a day out it felt like my nipples were on fire!! In the end DH got the peas out the freezer and made a comfortable nipple bag for me but OMG is this normal? Has anyone else had this pre birth? Any feedback welcome.

I am 20 weeks too and still have v sensitive breasts - they don't feel as bruised and tender as they did in first trim, but nipples often feel sore and tingly, and boobs can still be uncomfortable - so I am hoping this is normal too!

Mine have been really painful mostly all the way through. I explained to the midwife that it felt like someone was holding a lighter under them and she just said it was normal and to live with it basically.

They are slightly better now or I have got used to it so there is hope.

At the beginning I would get like attacks of pain and have to sit still and squirm for 5 minuted until it passed.

I find cold makes it worse for me.

I also find the cold makes mine incredibly sore. Maybe you're just unlucky being quite so sensitive. It could also be your milk ducts starting to get ready. I'm 37+2 and have only had that pain for a week or so but I know my sister had it very early on and even started leaking then too.
I wouldn't worry about it, just keep a bag of peas in the freezer and buy some nipple cream maybe.

FWIW, my left breast was really painful but has now stopped being painful, but has started leaking colostrum. The right breast is now catching up. So I think some of the pain comes from the milk ducts forming.

Thanks everyone. That makes me feel a bit better. I was actually wondering if maybe putting the ice on might make it worse by stopping whatever happening happening if that makes sense.
