33 weeks and a Posterior baby - any reassurance stories?

Hi, I am 33 weeks pregnant and due to my placenta being anterior (on the front) the baby seems to have well and truly settled into a posterior head down position.
I had a growth scan on Tuesday as my midwife suspects the baby is quite big (my two previous ones were close to 9lb)

Have any of you any positive stories about delivering a posterior baby? I've read lots of tips to get it moving around but sure enough by the end of the day its all kicks out front again!

My main thought is whether to have an epidural, even though I know it means it is even more unlikely the baby will turn in labour as I'll be on my back.

Help!

Hi, I had an anterior placenta and a back to back labour, and tried everything to get DD1 to shift position prior to the birth, scrubbing floors, yoga exercises, sleeping on the left and bouncing endlessly on birth balls... she wasn't having any of it.

DD was 8lb 10oz, and delivered naturally on gas and air - it was excruciating but survivable. On the plus side (in theory had DD not had feeding problems) I could have gone home from hospital a lot quicker than if I had gone the epidural route.

Btw, I was induced (gel not drip), so had to have continuous monitoring - my top tip would be to make sure you have a birth partner who is briefed to fight your corner, as DH was under strict instructions to argue with the midwife if she made me go on my back to make sure it was 100% unavoidable and necessary - as far as I am aware you don't actually need to be lying down for them to monitor you, it's just easier for them to find the heartbeat like that but it can be done in other positions. All fours was the best position I found for getting weight of baby off my spine, being on my back was just the worst. Good luck!

dd was back to back, there was no shifting her. I was home after 5 hours of having her Grin

Dc1 was posterior and nothing but nothing would convince her to turn. I tried everything I should and avoided everything I shouldn't do similar to barrelofmonkeys.

I too stayed upright / on hands and knees. Honestly, every position hurt but they hurt less until, after 12 hours, and looking at another 12 I physically couldn't take any more (sorry sarahlou, maybe not reassuring but honest) and got epidural which meant being on back. Lovedmy epidural! Hospital was good and didn't put any pressure onme to lie on bed until I had epidural when for obvious reasons I could no longer move around.
