Maternity Bra - Asap Advice Pretty Please!

Hi

I need to oreder a bra on internet today, so it can get delivered in time for my MIL to meet me at airport with it so i can put it on asap! Currently live abroad and can't find anything suitable at mo here!

Anyhow - I'm having trouble find one in my size (done measuring and figure 46d) - I've seen a pack of non-wired bras. Will they be OK as a stop gap until i find a proper maternity bra when I get a chance to go shopping?

Does anyone know a good shop that does bigger size maternity bras that i can visit?

I'm 18wks pg - so figure i might grow more - so didn't want to spend too much on this (IYSWIM)

Thanks :)

Anything without an underwire will be fine.

Are you flying to London? If so, there's Bravissimo on Margaret Street (just N of Oxford Circus) which specializes in larger sizes. Major department stores also offer fitting and a good range of larger sizes. And there's Rigby and Peller if you want the Queenly experience.

Brill. I'll order the bra and then get to Bravissimo when i can - I'm in Devon for 3 weeks - but have some time in London after that!

THANKS onimolap

They have a catalogue too - so you might find it useful to chat to one of their fitters about their styles and sizing so you can order from you usual location as they keep on growing.

Ditto for how to fit a nursing bra (I had the very soft Bravado ones for immediately post natal, and something more fitted once it had all settled down).

Just to a qik point you don't have to wear a soft cup bra while PG, you can still wear underwired if they are fitted right. Bravissimo will help you with this they where fab at fitting me when PG.

In case you haven't found Bravissimo www.bravissimo.com/default.aspx. You might need a different size later/for BF.

Bravissimo ship abroad and in the UK, but really you need to get there for a fitting. They don't fit with tapes.

I went to Debenhams to be fitted for my maternity bras and they were great, would definatly recomend them. The range wasnt too bad either (some are not attractive AT ALL!!) also reasonably priced.

MiniMarmite · 30/08/2010 11:34

I think Bravissimo will fit you over the phone!

breatheslowly · 30/08/2010 12:07

Are you really sure about your size - Bravissimo only seems to go up to a 40 back size - 46 back size seems unlikely.

Also the NCT catalogue has a good range or maternity bras.

CupcakesHay · 30/08/2010 12:11

Yeah kind of sure about size - my bra before pg was 44dd - so measured and seem to have grown a bit. I've ordered one, but i think i'll pop into bravissimo when i'm in London.

Thanks for all the advice :)

I found John Lewis very good at fitting. They suggest not to use underwire though so I went with their advice. I've got a Royce maternity bra and have bought a nursing bra from them to for later.

You can order from their website once you have had a fitting and found a style you like (JL didn't have the colour I wanted in stock so I ordered direct - very prompt service).

stuffedmk · 30/08/2010 13:01

46 d is very unusual, I would reckon you will end up smaller back size and bigger cup (were you measured for you size before pg?) The majority of women wear the wrong size! I did aswell before I got a job fitting bras Blush

japhrimel · 30/08/2010 14:45

A 46 back size would mean a dress size of 24 or above I think.

Bravissimo are great IMO. And the reason they have a bigger range of cup sizes, but don't go huge in back sizes, is that most women need a smaller back size but bigger cup size than they're wearing.

onimolap · 30/08/2010 14:52

If you're really stuck when looking for wide size across the back, then you can buy bra extenders. Rib cage size can grow a lot in final trimester, so you might want to stock up.
