Where did you get kicks?

DS was permanently breech. This one isn't. I'd been expecting kicks in the liver and ribs etc but most movement is at the front around my navel and sometimes to one side sort of halfway between pelvis and ribs. Also a lot of punchy movements low down, elbows I think! I'm 35 weeks.

Thanks. Think this one likes transverse too, seems to be really mobile. Want it to go cephalic then grow lots and stop moving! Hard to know where it is from hour to hour.

Mine was breech til he was turned 12 days ago. Kicks seem to have changed from runs really low along the topside of cervix to about the middle along the horizontal line of bellybutton. Bump has never been particularly high so i've never experienced any rib-kicks.

It is nice not to have a bloody enormous skull poking out above my bellybutton any more though...

ThatDamnDog · 23/08/2010 09:39

That's really reassuring, thanks. This one has threatened to be breech on and off again and I really want a shot at a VBAC so I'm paranoid about lie. I can sooo sympathise with the head thing, when I had to curl over for the spinal before DS was born I thought my poor liver was being mangled between his skull and my ribs, ugh.

Suppose I'm coming from the other viewpoint really. 38+4/40 now, was used to breech positions & kicks all the way so this is new to me. Feels more uncomfortable this way round, but maybe more to do with baby settling into pelvis and having altogether less room to manoeuver.

Hope yours settles soon and you get your vbac. Smile

Hi

I could have written your post. Ds was breech constantly from 28 weeks, this one is supposed to be head down and I had expected higher kicks. Most of my kicks are aroung the middle and my sides - none in the ribs yet. I'm trying for a VBAC as well, so I'm just hoping this one is cephalic, but curled up. Not much help really, but here's hoping they stay head down!

ThatDamnDog · 23/08/2010 12:10

LitR I can so identify with that feeling! And everyone says the same thing "there's plenty time for it to turn yet", but you have this funny sort of gut feeling ...

Not going to say any more on that matter because you've got to stay positive - and I am assuming you are doing all the spinning babies stuff etc? I saw an osteopath when this one was lingering in breech at 33.5 weeks and it turned in the following 48 hours, apparently I had tension in my Psoas muscle Confused. Anything's worth a shot. Wishing you lots of luck too :)

This has been lovely, thank you all. Seems daft but hard to believe this one might make its own way out - I want to experience labour but now it's looking like it might actually happen trepidation is setting in! Then every kick somewhere odd has me doubting it all over again.

Maybe - with breech DS I felt the hiccups at the top of my bump, but this time I get a lot of them in my pelvis. :)

I have no idea about any of this - i.e. where and what the movements mean. First timer - I'm 24+3 weeks. I feel it really low down, never high in abdomen but across, low. Does this mean anything position-wise? Enlighten me ladies Smile

saoirse86 · 24/08/2010 15:34

I'm 35+4 and had a growth scan 4 days ago so know exactly how she's lying and it's just confirmed what I thought. I've felt hiccups and punches just by my left hip (which is where her head is, and she's had her hands to her face at all 3 scans now), and kicks generally around my right side sort of middle to high up. I can quite clearly feel her bum on my right side too. I haven't had any kicks in the ribs but she's quite small and my bump's low.

ThatDamnDog · 24/08/2010 20:14

Well today I've had next to no movement up top but lots of forceful thumping low down. But it still feels more like a bum and thigh than a head, and it does squirm occasionally, so here's hoping!

Seasister, I think until around 28 weeks they've so much room that they sit across the way anyway. What you describe sounds familiar to me at that stage of both my pregnancies. :)
