Hi There,

I'm just over 12 weeks pregnant with baby number one and seriously considering going to the birthing centre in Wallingford... does anyone have any experience of going there? Or is anyone planning on going there also? :)

Hello
I'm 31 weeks pregnant and (subject to no complications!) going to go to Wallingford. It's so much smaller than the JR and more relaxed. Have you been there yet for any check ups and spoken to the midwives? They are good at reassuring you, as I wasn't 100% sure whether I wanted to give birth there as it will be my first too and a bit worried about if things go wrong. The people I know that have had babies there have all said it's fantastic and the midwives were great.

Morning Didster,

Thanks so much for your reply.

I haven't made it down there for a tour yet but your post is very reassuring. I have a feeling it's going to be the right thing for us (if everything stays complication free!)

You must be starting to get quite excited now!? Hope everything stays relatively plain sailing for you!

My sister had her first son there - heard nothing bad about it :)

I considered having DD there, but beside of complications I had to have her at the JR, which was excellent.

All the follow up midwife care was from Wallingford though, and I was really impressed with them. A friend had her DD there a few months ago, and was very happy too.

Are you all local then?

I went to an active birth workshop thing last night and the other three couples there were also hoping to have their babies at Wallingford too! They only take you if you are low risk and if there is the smallest of problems you'd get transferrred to the JR anyway. Can let you know in eight weeks if I ended up there or not!
Haven't done the tour but all my appointments have been there so seen all the rooms and asked enough questions.
Had to go to JR for a check up and the midwives there were lovely, so even if you do end up at JR it'll still be fine.
Cryhavoc - Am Cholsey so Wallingford is soooo much easier than traipsing to the JR if I can avoid it!

Thanks so much for all of the positive feedback, I really, really appreciate it!!

I'm now keeping my fingers crossed for an easy/ low risk pregnancy!

cryhavoc - I'm in Henley.
