39+4. 7lb14oz. Forceps after 37hrs. Spontaneous labour.

Diabetes was out of control - ketones in my wee. Whilst it had been visable in my urine and blood results for 3 months nobody "saw it" until the day before.

hi, im 37wks, got another scan and clinic on wed, never had gd in my previous pregnancies, i was diagnosed 28 wks, on full insulin, scans saying she is a big baby, how big is she, they cant tell me, i will know on wed, if induction or cs. i dont want a cs i want to go naturally, im 4ft 11.

loftyjen · 29/08/2010 22:28

I got diagnosed with GD at 28/40 (this is my first pregnancy) - now nearing 37/40 and at growth scan last wk bubs was estimated to be 5lb 8oz. As diet/exercise controlled without probs am going right up to 40/40 before induction (hoping to spontaneously go into labour before that!).

Whirleywoo - hope all goes ok for you, can't believe how unsupportive alot of the posters were on your induction thread Angry and when trying to stick up for you/help explain what probs could occur I then got accused of being on my high horse - grr!!

RunawayWife · 29/08/2010 22:31

7lb 11

SacharissaCripslock · 29/08/2010 22:31

10lb 8oz at 38 weeks.

The GD didn't go away after birth and developed type 2 diabetes and went on to have babies weighing 8lb 6oz @ 36 weeks and 7lb 9.5oz at 35.5 weeks.

MrsKitty · 29/08/2010 22:35

Diagnosed at 28 ish weeks, on 1 shot of insulin per day from around 32 weeks.

Booked for induction at 38 weeks, but went in to spontaneous labour at 37+5, and DD was born 4 hours later, weighing 8lb 13oz. Grin

Makingchanges · 29/08/2010 22:38

Not sure when diagnosed. Family history so tested during pregnancy - initially diet controlled, quickly changed to insulin.

Induced vaginal labour at 38 weeks (although suspect I was 39/40 as dates didn't match)

Baby 8lb 8oz

AlgebraRocksMySocks · 29/08/2010 22:39

second baby DS was induced, eventually turned up 11 days late. was 11lb 14oz, pretty quick vaginal birth, no tear/forceps or anything. he was jaundiced and had low blood sugar for the first few days. had light therapy and formula top ups, recovered quickly.

thing is, I never got diagnosed with GD. I had the lucozade test (feel sick just looking at that drink now!) at 28wks and it was clear, but the Dr said I could have developed it towards the end of the pregnancy. I felt awful that I could've contributed to the problems but we'll never know! and it doesn't matter now really, he is a healthy boy (now on 75th centile) he turns one tomorrow! :o

quitescared · 29/08/2010 22:59

No. 1 (without GD) was 10lb at 40 weeks, No.2 (without GD) was 8lb 3 induced at 38 weeks. Have GD this time and am being induced - goodness knows what i'm going to get this time considering the sizes of the non-GD ones!!!

AhickeyfromKenickie · 29/08/2010 23:09

quitescared - I'm in the same position. DS1 was 10lb 8oz without GD. DS2-on-the-way is measuring on 97th centile at the mo. I'm controlling my GD with diet, just wondering if this will slow down DS2's growth or if I'm in for another big 'un no matter what. Fingers crossed I get one of those lovely 8lbers!

7.1 lbs, born by c-section after failed induction and foetal distress at 40 weeks.

Blood sugar problems for him for 4 days.

I developed the GD at 28 weeks and was ultra strict through the remaining weeks but was still on 20 units of insulin per day, which may explain the normal birth weight.

He weighed exactly the same as my DH when he was born, and I'm only 5ft 4 and quite slightly built.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 30/08/2010 08:26

My sister was born vaginally at 37 weeks, an ounce shy of 11lbs.

Mum's GD wasn't diagnosed, however full blown Type I was diagnosed shortly after. :( When a bikini with 34" hips fell off her...

memoo · 30/08/2010 08:33

GD diagnosed at 27 weeks, had to take insulin.

Induced a 38 weeks resulted in emergency CS

DD was 7lb and had to spend a day in scbu due to low blood sugars
