35 weeks & night time is a nightmare

This is a long shot, but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice or ideas.

I'm 35 weeks and the late evening/ overnights are truly horrible now. Come about 9:30pm my feet feel like they're on fire, so I have to stick a fan on them. Plus, I also have backache, and then come bedtime I get terrible aching in my pelvis and down my legs. I've tried sleeping with a pillow between my knees, but it doesn't improve the aches at all. Its getting so bad that I'm not getting very much sleep and I feel completely fed up and tearful.

Does anyone else have this problem, and if so, have they found anything that helps?!

Sorry, I don't have any solutions. I just wanted you to know you're not alone.

35+ weeks too. My feet burn all day and night (worse at night). Trying to lie down is a nightmare. I've got SPD and can't stay in one position for long. I've tried propping myself up to go to sleep but end up in worse pain as my pelvis totally locks then. Tried various different size pillows between my knees. All were rather painful.

I would love to get just one full nights sleep, so if anyone has any other ideas.........????

I'm exactly the same time and position as you. Haven't found anything that helps. I'm going to see an osteopath who does massage too next week and hope that helps. Lavender on the pillow, not that it really helps much either.

Am now on maternity leave and going to try going swimming to stretch my muscles and hopefully just wear myself out.

I'm caving in and having a glass of wine tonight, lets see if that helps...

My feet burn too, it's so distracting. Then suddenly as you drift off to sleep the baby gives you a swift kick!

Btw, for the burning feet putting them in water helps a bit but apparently should be lukewarm rather than cold because cold water can have the opposite effect and make your feet hotter.

Swimming sounds like a good idea. I'd do that if I had a maternity swimsuit! Could get one I guess but with not many weeks to go it might be a pricey short term buy.

Knackering yourself out to get a good night's sleep generally is probably a plan though- yesterday I did a ton of cleaning, shopping and then we were making the cot, so I slept a lot better last night than the few nights before.

Still discomfort/ loo visits though.

MadameG I can't be bothered to buy a maternity costume either, I just wear an ordinary bikini and sling a cheap maternity vest top on top of it.

Cant help with the uncomfortable sleeping Im afraid, am 39 weeks + and sleep is a very distant memory. But for the burning feet, Burts bee's do an amazing foot and leg cream from their mama bee range. Its peppermint and something else and really really feels like someone blowing cold air onto your feet. I love it, but it is a little bit pricey.
mothercare also do a cheaper foot spray, not as good but does cool your feet down.
HTH

Thanks Kity, good tip offs! Libras- I can't get in my normal bikinis- my boobs have gone up about 3 cup sizes and my butt has swelled! Otherwise that would have been a perfect idea! Meh. Can't wait to have my normal body back.
