I posted a slightly different thread - who DIDN't bond with baby from birth - until it was rightly pointed out I'll get some skewed responses. Sorry. Am a novice.

What I'm really interested in is bonding or non bonding experiences in general - so this is for you if you DID bond!

ds1 was EMCS and taken straight to SCBU as premature - I was given a photo of him before I could get to see him. I instantly felt like my world was falling apart, and he was ALL that mattered. My whole world was stuck in an incubator for 4 wks, so yes I'd say I bonded with him instantly.

ds2 was my planned homebirth VBAC which I desperately needed to get over ds1 experience. He was put straight on my chest and we bonded instantly too Smile

DD was an immediate whoosh of "kill or die" for her love the second she was out. I spent the first few weeks just gazing adoringly at her and marvelling at every tiny thing she did.

DS took longer and was more gradual. He's 8 months now and I think its only been in the last month or so that I finally love him the same amount as DD.

Both were very much planned and wanted but it took 18 months, a few mc's and a scary pregnancy (on and off bleeding throughout and threats of premature labour) to get DD. Her birth was relatively easy. I got pg with DS much easier but had hideous SPD toward the end. The labour and birth were much longer and harder.

Bonded with them all straight away (all CS).

DD (DC2) was taken away to special care due to breathing problems. The next night I finally got to feed her at about 8pm. They said she might need feeding again at 2am. I was so excited I couldn't sleep - the only time I have ever been so excited in my entire life. She didn't need feeding at 2am so I stayed wide awake till 6am. I couldn't sleep no matter how hard I tried. The excitement of getting to feed my beloved baby again was like nothing on earth.

And yes I have fallen in love with a man, got married, had wonderful Christmasses as a child, all the other things people are supposed to get sleeplessly excited about Grin.
