Should my uterus now be above my belly button?

Hi I am 23+6 and completely paranoid that my uterus is still below my belly button it doesnt feel hard above it like it says it should, also I only ever feel kicks low down. I do have quite a long torso as I am quite tall.

Is anyone else like this? Plus I just feel really down and weepy today like something is gonna go wrong.

Saw my midwife last week and she said everything was fine but I got the feeling it wasnt and she was waiting until she saw me again, no idea why I am feeling like this.

Thanks for listening x

I find it really difficult to feel the top of my uterus TBH. If the MW says it's fine, it'll be fine. Smile

If you're tall, that will throw off where your fundal height should be in relation to your belly button. It's the total fundal height that's important, not where it reaches compared to the rest of you.

My LO seems to like being mostly upright atm (I'm 23+1 btw) so as I'm mostly upright too, her kicks are low down. I prodded the top of my bump yesterday and think I poked her in the head though!

I had nothing above my belly button until about 25 weeks and then it seemed to get higher by the day and I have a very short abdomen!

They usually don't measure fundal height until later in pregnancy anyway and as long as the movements you are feeling haven't decreased you will be fine, enjoy your pregnancy- the midwife won't lie you :)

ladies just a random question but how do you know if your uterus is above your bellybutton? I've been worried about this but just don't know how I know

First, lie flat on your back. Start pressing gently from the top of your belly, right under your ribs, with the flat of your hand - it will feel soft. Work your way slowly down your belly and you will feel the texture change - your uterus is hard. If you feel carefully around where it changes, you may be able to feel the "edge" of your uterus - this is the top of your fundus. Then feel the top of your pubic bone and use a tape measure to go from the top of the bone to the top of the fundus. The number of cms should correspond to the number of weeks (so 23 weeks = 23 cms). Variation of 2cm either way is considered normal, and it's not an exact science anyway (but it passes time if you're bored!)
