who's been smoking during pregnancy?

Do you know someone or maybe you yourself that has been smoking during pregnancy? & was everything alright with the baby when it was born?
Am not asking for numbers for quitting or support, just want to know the fact... as i'm 40 weeks now & for me it wouldn't make a difference anymore.

I did a lot of research into this when my cousin was smoking when pregnant. Her little boy now has asthma and all sorts of breathing problems. I also found an American study on line that said 90% of cot deaths occured when the mother smoked whilst pregnant - that scared me. You have to give up a lot when pregnant, smoking is usually one. When something so precious is forming and developing inside you, why would you put so many harmful chemicals into your body? I used to go mad is someone even smoked near me when i was pregnant! That's just me...

I've actually met young girls who wanted to smoke when pregnant so they didn't 'get too fat'!!!!! Do they honestly think that having smaller babies is the only side effect?!?!?! Someone i used to work with smoked with both her girls - they can not get pregnant and one has had breast cancer twice. She blames smoking and wishes every day that she'd given up. It's not worth it - What's more important?
