Lady Garden... I know this may be TMI and everyone is different. but in the last weeks/days how did you manage it?? im 31 weeks and am losing the visual already haha... also where the baby is putting pressure downwards "it" feels swollen sometimes, so dont want to make it any more sore??

sorry if this sound completely nutty. just thought i'd have no shame and just ask lol

Just leave it be.

Honestly - the mw's won't mind!

thisisyesterday · 18/08/2010 22:08

i didn't do anything at all, there really isn't any need
if you desperately want to then ask your dp/dh

Haliborange · 18/08/2010 22:12

Well I always lost the will to care when I couldn't see it anymore, Out of sight, out of mind.
I think my MWs may have been mildly surprised by my 1970s-style fanny (as I am otherwise quite well groomed!), but if they cared (sure they didn't really) I certainly didn't!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 18/08/2010 22:13

I stopped caring about the same time I stopped being able to see it! (not that I care much about trimming it most of the time, tbh.) I had a fab swimming costume that has 'legs' on it down my thighs, so it wasn't on display when I did aquanatal.

I'm now 21 weeks and losing the will to care once more... Grin Beloved old swimming costume was stretched to transparency in last pregnancy Blush so I guess I'll just be tucking it in for aquanatal this time. That, or plaiting it. Grin

ReshapeWhileDamp · 18/08/2010 22:14

Halib, we posted more or less the same post at the same time! Grin I lose the will to care about many things in pregnancy. Life is easier that way.

Haliborange · 18/08/2010 22:16

Agreed, and I am always faintly amused by the thoughts of the OB having to part my pubes Bellamy-in-the-undergrowth-style to locate my baby. It makes those "whole-hand-in" internals faaaar more entertaining.

LibertyGibbet · 18/08/2010 22:21

Good lord, when heavily pregnant I cared about gingerbread, sitting and imagining pain-free labour and sneezing the baby out.

I did not care about my bush.

notjustalawyer · 18/08/2010 22:25

Dozeyland - you could go to a beauty therapist and have them do it for you? Might be the easiest way...!

excitedmummy2be · 19/08/2010 16:55

Oh Dozeyland...you have made my day! I had the same conversation with my DH the other day. Im 29+4 and can no longer see the lady garden at all....but im very aware its fairly out of control! DH declined to tidy it all up down there, so I went at it, blind, with a razor. DH thinks I look like I have mange now as some bits are bald and some bits are still out of control!! As a result, Ive decided to leave it well alone! Would rather it looked out of control than diseased!

lurcherlover · 19/08/2010 16:58

I have managed to trim mine and do a home bikini wax with the aid of a mirror (30 weeks now) - but it wasn't easy, and I think by D-Day I won't be able to do it any more. If you're worried, it's fine to go and get a wax at a salon in pregnancy. Personally I'm going to be letting mine get more au naturel though I think...

Dozeyland · 19/08/2010 17:48

I am a trained beauty therapist, but my waxpot melted a few years ago! lol
I will keep it tame by shaving probably,an get a bikini wax... but as you guys have said i probably wont care - or be able to reach!!

does anyone else have the "swollen" feeling?

OP posts:
JamieJay · 19/08/2010 18:04

Leave it - I got totally focused on sorting mine and had it carefully trimmed and tidy at 39 weeks, all very well and good but baby didn't turn up into 41+3 by which time it had grown again and I was totally beyond caring!

I remember the swollen feeling well so you're not on your own there!

excitedmummy2be · 19/08/2010 18:12

I too am swollen. I can't see it but it feels really fat! DH was amazed at the size of it!!

Giddyup · 19/08/2010 18:37

30 weeks here (almost) and just lost visual, I used a mirror and guess work and a combo of immac and a trim... will probably nedd DPs help next time though... already decided to pay DS to paint my toenails when that gets too hard

loveydovey · 19/08/2010 21:50

I have gained a fat fanny and also a very hairy bush and I couldnt be anymore proud!

BongoWinslow · 20/08/2010 09:14

I had a professional wax at 32 weeks - I don't know how it turned out because I can't see but DH says it looks fine Smile

miamix · 20/08/2010 09:41

My reasons for wanting to have a tamed bush at the "time" are twofold.

  1. In an emergency caesarean I have read they shave the area with a bic and without foam! Although I doubt a bit of shaving rash will be the worst thing when healing from a C section...
  1. I imagine it would just make the whole stitching thing afterwards a bit easier for the nurse?!

But I would say this at 17 weeks Grin

Just laughed so hard at this I nearly wet myself.

I took a similar approach, but managed to angle a mirror so I had a rough idea where I was going! Got so out of breath with the effort that it will be a couple of weeks at least before I brave it again.
