Kittykatzen - yes, the lunchtime class. I think it's the only one offered at that pool?

If anyone reads this and is thinking of going, it's off for the next three weeks - one for bank holiday and two for the MW's holiday. Class starts again on the 20th.

KittyKatzen I remember you too! You both looked very happy. Maybe I'll see you at Buddah Bellies, if I can find room in our budget. Hope everythings going well for you, do you know whether your expecting a boy or a girl?

I've just looked up Buddah Bellies because I'm in Kirtlington so it's close and I ought to try and meet some mums... considering it now. I called Virgil before going on holiday and haven't heard anything back so I'm not sure what to do next, maybe I'll try going through the NCT site. To be honest it's more about the meeting people than the course, because I've heard the Woodstock NHS one (Sat Oct 16th anyone?) is good, but it's only one afternoon so I'm not sure it'll be as good for getting to know people IYSWIM.

Am doing the pre-eclampsia trial too, and the growth scans one, all easy so far, no inconvenience, apart from one extra jabby midwife taking blood at our 20 week scan.

Hi Readyornot2011 - yep, all going well here, 27 weeks in. Very much suffering from too much knowledge about what can go wrong - my non-medic husband is so much more relaxed than me! Having a surprise, somehow resisted temptation to look during the scan - I will be ecstatic either way.

Start NCT next week and very nervous - guess I am scared I will not meet anyone and end up being at home on my own with baby!

Hi, another Oxford (well, just outside) mum here. Got 2 DCs already (DS 7 and DD almost 6) and expecting DD2 2nd November

I had a bit of a dilemma picking where to give birth as the other 2 were born in Leicestershire, so no experience of care in Oxfordshire. Have settled on Chipping Norton, but have had my scans at JR. Had no problems either time and the sonographers were lovely :)

I won't be joining any NCT classes as I don't see what they can tell me 3rd time around.....would love to get in touch with some other mums/to be though as mat leave is gonna stretch out long and lonely if I don't have people to meet up for coffee/lunch with......!

Hello,

I'm a mum to be in Oxford too :-)

I'm almost six weeks now and seeing the GP for the first time on Thursday. As a general rule, what can I expect in terms of antenatal care in Ox? When do they generally schedule in the first scan? I just want reassurance that everything is A-OK in there!

CaringForPod · 31/08/2010 20:03

Hi Tanmu82 - just an aside, I was born in Chipping Norton! It served my mum well 27 years ago :-) Seriously, it's a good little hospital, hope all goes well for you.

Hello - I'm expecting my 2nd baby on Christmas Eve (!) and live just north of Oxford. I've found the midwives round me to be really good and the JR to be ok for scans if you don't mind waiting around a bit ...

azazello · 31/08/2010 20:22

Hello, I've a DD (3) and DS (nearly 1) in Oxford. I went to the classes with Virgil but she is quite disorganised. She's also been ill so apparently spent most of last summer cancelling things at the last minute. If you want some antenatal chat/ NCT class info you could look up Kedi Simpson who runs the classes in Banbury and Abingdon. She's lovely and very sensible. She also does baby massage courses for afterwards.

Buddha Bellies is lovely, very relaxing.

BTW, I had DS in the Spires bit of the JR as it all happened a bit quickly and Oxford was closer than Chipping Norton. The midwives were brilliant and I had the most perfect birth I could have had. Also the breastfeeding support at both is really good.

tanmu82 · 02/09/2010 20:35

hmmmm, I thought I was pretty set in my decision to give birth at Chippy, but I spoke to a lady at the gym yesterday and she gave birth at the Spires and loved it - and now you too azazello.....I'm not so sure anymore, think the Spires is back in the running!
