Holiday at 33 weeks

Hello, this is my first post as only just discovered Mumsnet! Was wondering if I could get some opinions on whether or not it's mad to go on holiday at 33 weeks pregnant. Am doing a last minute holiday as having final scan at 32 weeks to make sure my low lying placenta is now not low lying. If I get the ok, my doctor is happy to write a note, I'm insured and allowed to fly. We are going to go to Portugal and staying where we know people and the nearest hospital is 20 mins away. Despite all this, I'm still not 100% sure as convinced baby is going to come early (it's my first so have no evidence to back up my 'feeling'!). Is it better to go on a final relaxing holiday or should I stay at home?

Oh and I'm 31 weeks now and feel fine!

If your doctor is okay with it and you know you've got great insurance (plus a EHIC card - don't forget to get one!), I'd go. It's a short flight, hospitals should be okay and presumably if you know people there they could translate if needed?

Are you going to be okay physically with the flight? I'm going away in 3 weeks when I'll be 26 weeks and we've booked club tickets (with airmiles) so I can be comfy despite the bump and SPD. Not sure how I'd cope in economy.

Firstly, welcome to mumsnet. I'm relatively new too, and didn't realise how addictive it would become!!

Holiday-wise, I'd go for it. I'm 32 weeks and so wishing I had a weeks holiday coming up. Envy

Sounds like you've done your research, so if you feel fine and the Dr gives you the OK, then go and enjoy!!

Thank you both, I'm sure I'm going to get addicted too! Think I'm going to have to grin and bear economy but it's not for long. Feel for you with SPD and flying though Japhrimel - hope it's not too uncomfortable.
