GPs out there sympathetic to Hyperemesis?

Just wondering if anyone can help me out with any advice on finding a GP in London who is sympathetic to hyperemesis sufferers.

I'm 5 weeks pregnant with my second pregnancy and my first I had HG from 5 wks through to labour. I had a fantastic GP who was happy to prescribe me zofran (ondansetron) which meant that by about 16wks I could manage it, good and bad days of course, but I managed to stay out of hospital at least.

I've moved since and my new GP I saw yesterday to discuss a plan for this pregnancy. He basically said it's not common to have HG in subsequent pregnancies, and let's see how you get on. Hmm. I could have cried. Maybe I should have in hindsight! Smile

Should I see how I go, or try and change GPs now while I'm not feeling too bad. I just don't know what to do. I'm so scared of going through it again and this time I have my 20mth DS to think of! I just feel like crying Sad when I should be happy to be pregnant again. Sorry this post is so long!

Change GP now.

I know where you're coming from as have had HG with both pgs and have also seen lots of unsympathetic GPs.

He has a point however - I'm assuming you haven't yet started with it this pg - I wouldn't automatically assume you will get it again and would see how you go, you may be worrying unnecessarily.

You don't need to change your GP surgery altogether if it does come down to it, just ask to see a different GP within the same surgery and hopefully you will find someone who will take you seriously.

My SIL had to be hospitalized with her first do to it being so severe.. Then no problems for second and third. I think it really is true that is depends on individual pregnancies. If he doesn't help if/when you have a problem then change -quick!
