Exhausted at 9 weeks - help

Hello

This is my first post, and hoping someone can advise me. I was pregnant and got to 7 weeks before losing it, I've then fallen pregnant again straight away (much to the midwife's annoyance cause no one seems to be sure on my dates) but I'm around 9 weeks now.

My problem is tiredness, well in truth exhastion, I sleep 12 hour nights and need at least a couple of 1-2 hour long naps to get through the day without being a zombie. Lucky I only work part time so this is possible. I do have an exsisting thyroid problem but everytime I try and get my concerns across to my doctors they just get brushed away with a "you're just pregnant". I've finally complained enough to get a blood test and I'm waiting for the results but as it took months to diagnose me in the first place - my doctor just kept telling me to eat 5 fruit and veg a day - I'm not confident in getting a sensible answer from them.

I was expecting some tiredness but is anyone else just totally wiped out at this early stage??

I could hardly move for the first three months, by 9 in the morning I honestly felt like I needed a nap after having had a full nights sleep.

And then at 12 weeks it was almost instant as if a fog lifted. I wouldn't worry too much, sleep as much as you can and see how you feel in 3 weeks time.

I have been wiped out too this time - I also lost a baby shortly before (very late in pregnancy) so I thought the extra tiredness might be because my body had been through quite a lot.

I think it is great that you are pushing your GP to get more tests (in my experience you have to do this - I have had thyroid investigation too) but... it could just be that this is how this pregnancy might be for a while and you are just going to have to go with it. That's what I am doing: sleeping every afternoon and taking it very gently. I am 14 weeks now and in the last couple of weeks it has started to lift which might cheer you up!

Take good care and try not to worry.

I was totally wiped out for the first 12 weeks - early nights, weekends in bed and naps in the day (luckily I work at home). Then it just faded. Still get tired more easily than before (am 16 weeks-ish), but just wanted to reassure you that it should get better in 3 weeks or so : )

Early pregnancy is exhausting - I am 8+4 and I'm having a 2 hour nap every afternoon plus 10 hours sleep a night which is a huge amount for me.
I took my DS swimming yesterday morning and it completely wiped me out for the day, I literally couldn't move I was so knackered.

It's likely that your thyroid is contributing, but I doubt there is anything more sinister going on. You will feel more awake in a few weeks. :)

yes, I was so tired it took energy I didn't have to keep my eyes open. I;d spend days just in bed too tired to do anything other than get up to get food and go to the loo. I too couldn't believe it was normal to feel this exhausted. I don't know how people commute etc like this! I was signed off work from 4 weeks with bad preg sickness and have since been on summer hols (work in scool) so luckily didn't have to work through it. I'm now 13 weeks and just in the past few days I've managed to get through without an aftenoon nap every day, but am still very tired and can't do much.
