'Morning' sickness

I haven't actually been sick but I suffer from all day and night queasiness. I'm finding that I can feel very sick and ravenous at the same time, sometimes I have a craving for something and pig out on it until I get to the point that I know I will never be eating it again (today it was cashew nuts).

I just seem to be eating crap all the time, I'm only 8.5 weeks but the queasiness is horrible.

I have a fear of being physically sick so I just feel so sorry for those who have bad morning sickness. I just can't get over the way I seem to be gorging myself on crap though.

Anyone else have similar?

yep, am 9 wks and past 6pm in the evening I can't function as it feels so bad,it's barable when I get up in the morning then gets worse and worse as the day progresses. I just sit on the sofa not even speaking cos that makes me feel sick too. Am trying to sip mineral water or elderflower presse

mine normally eases off about 5 mths. Quite a way to go yet.

hi there, i know exactly what you mean about feeling starving and sick at the same time apple - though if you are living up to your name you're not doing too badly. there was a point when even drinking water made me feel sick. i'm now 18 weeks pregnant and still occasionally retch in the morning but what's more annoying is the slightly horrible taste in my mouth+ sort of indigestion i get almost every afternoon and evening. Nothing appeals but if i don't eat it gets worse. there are some foods that i virtually lived off before being pregnant that i don't want to touch any more - inoffensive things like chicken. it's all very odd and draining.

sam26oscar · 16/08/2010 21:14

Applemuncher know exactly how you feel, my m/s started about 5 weeks and gradually got worse and worse until it peaked between 9&11 weeks (sorry) am now 11+3 and still feel nausaeous pretty much every day but it seems far less severe, don't worry about the crap you eat, i have eaten about half a dozen child size meals in the past 6 weeks, the rest of the time its been anything from carrot and hummus to crisps and cheese biscuits, not so much as a fresh piece of fruit passed my lips for about a month!!! i ate fish sticks with marie rose sauce for a week and now i gag just thinking about it!! Hopefully (!!!) it will go anywhere between 10 and 14 weeks, but if you read the threads on MN it is common to have it a lot longer Sad hope you feel not too bad!!

You guys cheered me up (misery loves company), sadly the name 'Applemuncher' is just because I'm always on a diet (obviously not at the moment though Smile).

I can't bear fruit at the moment, someone in work offered me a banana and I physically balked (they don't know I'm pg either), 20 minutes later I was chowing down on a MacDonalds!

Looks like I might have a way to go with the queasiness though, doesn't help that hubby sees me eating crap and keeps offering me alternative foods - every suggestion he makes sends me one step closer to the toilet!

yeah I'm the same applemuncher I think it's normal. I've had certain foods that I could eat nothing but for a few days then coildn't touch the stuff. DH went a bit insane as I'd be ordering large family sized portions of things as it was all I could eat then couldn't eat it and everything kept going out of date! Just eat what you can and little and very often helps. I had the thing where I couldn't drink water for weeks too as it made me feel sick (??!!). I'm now 13 weeks and (fingers crossed it's not always all day nausea and I am managing a few more foods, but still have times where I just sit and cry as I feel hungry but can't think of anything I can eat.

I also have a phobia of being sick. It's terrible to live with and I thought I'd never manage to go through pregnancy because of this... My GP prescribed me anti sickness pills for terrible nausea, so if you're really suffering then do see someone, they can give you something if you're not being sick ans just having nausea.

hodge1 · 17/08/2010 12:42

I am having the same problem. morning sickness all day and at night when I wake up coupled with fantasizing about food. I have also been snacking on weird stuff - oat cakes and sour cream anyone??

The worst is in the morning, before work, when I have to force some food down me. I then have to lie down and contemplate my next move before brushing my hair or doing make up! I think the only thing that helps are my many experiences of giardia and other delightful tummy probs where I have had to force myself to eat/drink just to keep going/get to the doctors and to be honest this sickness does not compare.

I can see a phobia of being sick must be really hard for you angels. I don't have any words of wisdom but I think pray it will get better for us! My mum got better after 13 weeks so I am hoping for that watershed myself.

LadyTumble · 17/08/2010 13:23

I'm in the same boat too (6 weeks).I'm surviving on digestive buscuits at the moment but this feels the same as my first pregnancy (I survived off of jelly babies when pregnant with DS who strangely doesn't like them). Brushing my teeth is the worst bit tho, along with drinking anything. I've discovered that drinking through a straw helps. Oh the joys :)

I've just had an update e mail from Bounty about this very thing - I'm off to go get some pear drops!!!

Same here, 8 weeks tomorrow. Exactly the same as liahgen66 :-( the things us women go through ay ;-) all worth it in the end we just have to keep telling ourselves.

I am at the mo crippled on the sofa with sharp trapped wind pains and bad nausea :-(

Daisy17 · 17/08/2010 19:39

Feeling grim for the past week, about 7 weeks in, it really is debilitating, isn't it?! Urgh. My mum came to visit, and did say that if you can bear not to give in to the cravings too much, and force yourself to eat as normally as you can, it tends to get better. If you like Marmite, that on toast cut into squares to nibble at intervals during the evening is working for me at the moment. That and repeating like a mantra, "it's all in a good cause, it's all in a good cause....." Wink

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 17/08/2010 19:46

I'm 8+3 and I'm exactly the same. Today I have eaten

2 slices of white toast with butter (can't stomach wholemeal which I usually love!)
Cereal bar
A whole pizza for lunch
An apple
Another slice of white toast and butter

I am about to have moussaka and courgettes for dinner, and I will probably have more toast and maybe some cake later.

sam26oscar · 17/08/2010 20:06

well done Alibabaaandthe40nappies, (sure i put too many E's!!) today i have had:

piece of white toast and marmite
1x rich tea biscuit
childs ikea bowl (half) chicken risotto
1x bbq beef hula hoops

after the risotto i thought i was going to burst, i wish i could eat more as after nearly 7 weeks of not wanting to eat anything i am actually starting to "fancy" foods but can't always eat it Sad !!

i am 11+4 now and am working towards the goal that it will go in 3 days... when i reach that magical 12 week point.... yeah right!!

Tarlia · 17/08/2010 21:01

Urk, can I join this club - a rants always healthy ;). 12 weeks now, this started at 3 weeks before I had even got a BFP! I can hardly eat a thing, you all sound like you are doing much better than me.. today I've eaten a small bowl of cherios. A bowl of porridge. Some pizza and salad for dinner which I nibbled. I've not been able to cook for 9 weeks, even thinking about food makes me retch.

I was in the chemist at the weekend and got myself some "Sea Bands" they seem to help a little. The lady also said to buy hazel nuts and eat half a cupful per day but I really cannot stomach those!

I'm really hoping this goes soon as I'm just so sick of feeling sick all day and waking with it in the night too! Though I am very happy to be expecting. I read this could all mean a blue bump....?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 17/08/2010 21:39

Tarlia I had hideous sickness with DS. I was vomiting 15+ times a day and couldn't keep anything down, not even water some days. In the end I realised that I could eat cubes of cheddar cheese and cucumber, so that is what DH brought me every morning before he went to work - and lemonade. I was 11 weeks before I could manage anything else and that had been going on since I was 5 weeks, I've never felt so crappy in my life!

So yes it could be a blue bump!

liahgen66 · 18/08/2010 09:55

I was exactly the same with my ds2, with the girls, I was throwing up, I have to say I think this is worse, at least when you vomit it's over for a while.

I too am fully expecting this to be a blue one.
