36 weeks, baby in lateral position - ROL - anything I can do?

That's it really. Just been to see m/w who says baby is in a lateral position, which as I understand it means his spine is against my side, rather than my tummy (ideal) or my spine ( not ideal!!). My notes say he is ROL.

Are there any exercises/positions I can get into to get him into a better position? I have looked at the baby spinning website, which seems to suggest that I lie on my back, upside down, down the stairs, which I am not particularly keen on! Wink Anything slightly less risky/traumatic?

TIA :)

I'm the same apparently. Midwife just said to sleep on left hand side and sit on birth ball in the evenings instead of sofa since slouching is worst position for it. Am currently bouncing up and down like a loon but slightly less risk of landing on head by being upside down on the stairs!!

Thanks :)

We really don't have room for a birthing ball, but guess we will have to make room - I want this birth to be as easy as possible!

Thing is though, this baby is seriously wriggly, way more than DD was, and I'm not convinced he's staying in one position.... so he may be ROL today, but tomorrow might be perfect... or back-to-back :(

I do try to sleep on left side, but it gets uncomfy sometimes, only sleeping in one position.

Hey ho, I will try, thanks for advice

I know! I start of sleeping on left hand side but then wake up when i start to lose all circulation in that side! So it's much easier said than done unfortunately.

DS2 was always in a lateral position (on right) right until I went into labour. I was more comfortable sleeping on right side.

Spend early labour leaning over birth ball, he was still lateral on arrival at hospital but he moved around during early contractions and at the point my waters broke he was on the LOA - I had a very very easy birth.

Don't slouch, do lean forward. Don't worry!

Try spinningbabies.com and perhaps some reflexology.

Good luck.
