I put on 4st with DS but as I was 10st when started, I was at least slim to start with

However, with this one I was already a bit overweight when conceived..and now I am freaking about gaining another 4st

I am trying my best not to eat very much junk and so far, this is working as its not appealing to me, but I'm having to eat every two hours or so and it seems to be things like salt and vinegar crisps and cream crackers that settle my tummy

I forced myself to have wholemeal toast for breakfast/lunch but it was like chewing on leather...really did not appeal...

Wtf to do?!! Woke up at 6am this morning sooo tired and so hungry that I just staggered to kitchen and grabbed a coissant before crashing back to bed..eeek!!

haha, i keep really wanting to gorge on cakes crisps all the fatti stuff but i keep grabbing for the bag of podpeas or the strawberrys haha. and for lunch i ate bacon sarnie and a bowl ov chips smotherd in vinegar mmmmmm. but for tea had a healthy chicken stirfry, borrriing

Exercise??

I ate mostly what I aNted, and did go off healthy stuff a bit in the first trimester, nut I exercised regularly.

Of course if you are putting away fat and high gi carbs for every meal then a gentle jog isn't going to save you, but if you do try to moderate what you eat at least a little and couple with some exercise then that should help, no?

Seem to recall the max recommended gain was 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 stone- and that was for people who were underweight when they got pregnant.

beckie90 · 09/08/2010 22:26

yes well i had a very bad birth and have read that a little excercise could help your body. and i do moderate what i eat but i have my bad days. i didnt put on much more than 3 and half stone anyway and was quite underweight, most of my weight was water not fat, it all went within 5 days of having my child

PussinJimmyChoos · 11/08/2010 19:37

Shit!

getstuffed · 12/08/2010 12:57

Arrr puss don't fret! my bump is only slightly larger than it was at four months hehehehe x

Graciescotland · 12/08/2010 13:11

I ate lots of carbs for the first 16 weeks, didn't put on too much weight as I threw up everything that wasn't carb based, so much for healthy eating!

Porridge and bananas were good compromises, nutritious, fibre filled and stodgy enough to keep down.

Good luck!

beckie90 · 12/08/2010 15:17

GETSTUFFED. i was same in my last pregnancy, when my due date past i looked less than 5 monthes pregnant haha, prob not gonna be same this time though i'll be like a whale haha

getstuffed · 12/08/2010 16:53

I was just HUMUNGUS straight away this time!

hellymelly · 12/08/2010 17:00

I sympathise,I gained three stone each time I was pregnant as unless I ate fatty refined carbs I was sick as all hell. Some people seem quite able to live on salad while pregnant and feel fine,I wasn't one of them.I don't think there's much you can do tbh, other than make sure you are as well nourished as possible generally to minimise cravings, and only eat eat you need to keep the nausea at bay.Your body is designed to crave high calorie easy to assimilate foods while pregnant.

beckie90 · 12/08/2010 17:41

oh dont say that to me GETSTUFFED lol, ive been loosin weight instead of puutin it on but im only early, ive been worried though.
i think its only normal to want some fatty or carb rich foods, so im not gonna feel bad i still eat my veggies and fruits and have water

getstuffed · 12/08/2010 21:11

Arrr beckie chicken don't be worrying, it's worse than anything for bubbas that love. Am sure you'll be fine.

Agree with helly, you gotta do what you gotta do and it'll be hell gettin' it off but I bloody will, so watch out for the ''am not gonna be fat as fook at forty'' thread mwhahahaha x

beckie90 · 12/08/2010 22:49

hahahaha i dont worry lol well thats a fib i really do because ill be fatter than all my friends ha, im only 20 and none of my friends have children so there mostly all thin. but oh well i'll be fat for a bludi good reason lol. last time all my weight came off its self luckily i was back to my pre weight after 5 days , prob be totaly opposite this time

Sunshine28 · 12/08/2010 23:18

Now all I can think about is crisp sandwiches. It's lucky I don't have any crisps in the house. Glad to see I am not the only one craving carbs! :)

beckie90 · 12/08/2010 23:41

haha ooo crisp sandwichs ive been eating monster much sandwichs lol

Giddyup · 12/08/2010 23:53

PussinJimmyChoos You sound like me, went from (a slim) 10 stone to 14 in my 1st pregnancy and was somewhat unsuccessful in shifting it. This time around I felt sick as a dog for 14 weeks without really vomiting, just feeling like I was about to unless I had bread and/or cheese in my hand!

I am now 28 weeks and although I am a greedy pig and lazy too, I really haven't put on much. I think if you are generously proportioned in the first place your body doesn't grab all the fat for breast feeding purposes in the same way as it does if you start off svelte.

I may be kidding myself and be about to balloon though...

beckie90 · 13/08/2010 09:47

gidyup well i hope im like you giddyup, i was slim still am slim as mine came off, but my bodyshape is diiferent now to before i had my last i was straight up and down and didnt have any fat on me whatsoever but now i do lol. i hope i dont put much weight on

Giddyup · 13/08/2010 11:12

Don't hope to be like me... as I was a fatty to begin with I will still have plenty to lose, but only hopefully what I had to lose after DS, not double!

Sorry if someone answered this: I looked it up on babycentre and ... it says 2 stone 6 lbs!

That includes baby.

I then tried it, same height, with 11 stone as a starting weight and it came up with 2 stone 2lbs.

Maybe it just recommends a vaguely healthy pregnancy weight gain for everyone ...?

emmyloulou · 13/08/2010 13:47

The average tends to be as a rough guide 2 stone for normal pregnancies, normal weight, 1st if you are overweight, more if underweight.

If you are technically obese it's advisable to not put on any, even loose some, not by dieting but by being healthy and walking etc.

Giddyup · 13/08/2010 14:26

I thought even if obese it was really unhealthy to put on less than a stone? Something to do with the baby taking on toxins as they are being nourished by your fat stores? and that you would end up with keytones in your urine which is bad?

Who told you that? My BMI at booking was 35.

I weigh now at 30 weeks what I did at booking as I have been sensible, not eating for 2, taking gentle exersice etc. So it means what with the extra weight I had anyway and my metabolic rate rising due to preg, I have broke even if you like.

I had a mw check yesterday and an ob check yesterday, they were over the moon as at 35, I was borderline anyway for when they say BMI is an issue. So looks like I'll be lighter after giving birth than before pregnancy if I keep it up.

I was told that a raised BMI, is the buzz thing now as it raises so many risks that they are happy for people to loose or not gain weight, if your BMI could be a risk, as long as it's done sensibly, not a problem.

beckie90 · 13/08/2010 14:54

ahh i think id look humongous with 2 and half stone onme haha, when i put on nearly 4 before, people thought id only put about a stone on, and was still wearing the same size 8 trousers at 40 weeks pregnant, i wonder why though, wonder what the weight really was

Giddyup · 13/08/2010 14:55

racking my brains trying to think where I read it, but obviously if your advice was from medical profs then it must be more up to date, well done with maintaining your weight!

emmyloulou · 13/08/2010 14:59

Ahh thanks, I was told at my booking to watch my weight as it was borderline on where they deem BMI a potential problem, so gtt, anesthetsist appt, etc and it wouldn't do me any harm if I were to watch my weight without going to excess.

I felt a bit Blush as I never really lost the weight from my last baby, but I did take a bit more exercise and just was careful about not eating too much crap and it's worked. The dr's were fine with it defiately said it was for the best, so I wouldn't worry if this happens.
