sharp pain in vagina/bottom of bump at 31 weeks when walking

I am wondering if someone can give me a bit of MN reassurance - I am 31.5 weeks, and have a big bump and baby (measuring at least 3 weeks ahead), and when I walk briskly I get a really sharp stabbing pain shooting right down into my vagina. Its sore enough to take my breath away. When I stop walking it goes away, and the baby is wiggling away happily. I am assuming its just because the baby is resting on a particular nerve or something, but I just wondered if anyone would be able to reassure me that I am not the only one experiencing this? Its not a contraction - my tummy stays soft, just a really sharp pain. If anyone has any thoughts they would be very much appreciated. Many thanks.

I used to get this but it was on and off, not all the time I was walking, IYSWIM - it would be a sudden stabbing pain and then it would go again. But other than that it was as you describe (and like you big bump and big baby) - and everything was fine. I would tell your MW though so they can check you over.

Do you think it could be symphysis public dysfunction (spd)? See link below www.mumsnet.com/pregnancy/spd

Many thanks. I have my 32 week GP appointment on Wednesday - so long as baby keeps wiggling normally, and it doesn't come on other than when I am walking, I am assuming its ok to wait till then to ask about it?

I hadn't considered SPD - I didn't realise that gave you pain in that area but having quickly googled you are quite right pinkteddy - maybe it is that.

You must mention it at check up and hopefully get a referral to a physio asap. Meantime the tips on the spd checklist on the link are quite good ones (speaking as a fellow sufferer, a few years ago now!).

pink teddy - did your pain feel like a sharp stab down into your vagina too?

Yes almost like a burning sensation. As I got bigger towards the end of pregnancy, I couldn't stand for very long at all or I was in agony. The support belt the physio gave me helped.
