A positive thread about midwives

I've seen a fair few posts about poor ante-natal care and dimissive midwives (even posted one myself about a midwife I've seen a couple of time in the this pregnancy!).

But after having a really pleasant experience with my main midwife this morning I thought it would be nice for people to sing the praises of the good midwives - I'm sure there must be others out there!

Had an appointment on Thursday at 40+3 where my blood pressure was slightly elevated. Got a phone call this morning, my midwife was round the corner visiting a new mum and having remembered that my mum had pre-eclamcia she offered to pop in an check my blood pressure for me.

Even though she was between appointments she then listened to baby's heartbeat as I mentioned she was a little quieter than normal and spent time discussing my husband's concerns about induction with him.

So, anyone else have a good midwife??

I saw loads of different hospital and community midwives when pregnant with DS and following his birth, and they were all lovely (with the exception of just one who was a bit of a cow). The one who delivered DS was just brilliant, she just managed to say and do all the right things to keep me going and she even stayed until after he was born, even though her shift had already finished. We really hope we get her again next time!

The midwife I had when DS was born was AMAZING, absolutely amazing. She had been around for years and years and knew everyone in the hospital, kept citing Ina May Gaskin and got one of the consultant anaesthetists to appear at my bedside to apologise for the behaviour of one of the more junior anaesthetists earlier in my labour.

I was in hospital for five days after DS's birth and a couple of the midwives there were fab too.

All of mine (I have seen loads this pregnancy) have been really lovely, I can't complain about any of them. Am 1 wk overdue at the mo so can't report on what they're like during labour yet!

Also a week (well 5 days!) overdue here MrsC2010. Hope baby comes soon for both of us Smile

My midwife for DD was fab. I was in a birthing centre and lost a LOT of blood after needing a ambulance but MW was calm, fab and saved my life. She came back to see me a few times while I was in hospital. Lovely lady.
