Am between 8 and 10 weeks, due to go away on a much needed, much saved for holiday with DP, DS and friends in a week (booked long time ago). I'm suffering with constant nausea, heaving and needing to eat all the time and then feeling sick as soon as I do. We're not going long haul and I am well travelled but I'm worrying about the heat and the travelling making the sickness and tiredness worse and want to make sure its a lovely holiday for my fiance and little one. Has anyone any hints or tips to help.

The consolation is that you will probably feel bad anywhere, so it might as well be where you can get some nice weather and not feel obliged to cook and clean.

I think you just need to do what your body tells you. If you need to sleep, then sleep. If all you can eat is pizza, then have pizza.

Do you have any specific worries?

Acupuncture helps ENORMOUSLY with morning sickness, see if you can fit a couple of sessions in before you go (the more you have, the longer your body goes before the sickness kicks in again).

I was sick throughout my pregnancy and for the last 15 weeks I had regular acupuncture and very little sickness or nausea.

Went to Ibiza when I was pregnant with dd2 (14 weeks), also had morning sickness, best thing I ever did, swimming is brillant, no sickness, sun made me feel so much better, lots of excuses for sleeps, just take it easy, went back to Ibiza this May with both dds and yes am expecting a visit from the stork in March Grin

Thanks all for your replies, much appreciated. I dont really have any specific worries mme..., i'm probably just being a moaning minny, its just been a hard week and I've just been having these visions of being away and feeling so poorly I wont want to leave my bed. I shall look forward to some good food, lots of swimming and hopefully I'll get a nice tan to hide the greenish pallor!

Hi bootus I went away for 3 weeks at the height of my morning sickness. I did feel ill a lot but still enjoyed my holiday.

A tip would be to take with you any food that you regularly want to eat (for me digestive biscuits and baked beans). I didn't do this and regretted it.

Also, you may want to eat in more than going out for food - something about constantly looking at menus doesn't help.

But, sunshine is v helpful and it is great to have a distraction from it. I'm sure you'll have a fab time - make sure you get some rest.

I have just come back from a two week hol in Rhodes, whilst feeling sick. I found that making sure I was well rested really helped, as did drinking plenty of water. Make sure you bring anything with you that helps you stop feeling sick. (For me it was mints) Using the travel sickness bands can help too.

I felt better with the sun shining and swimming in the sea made the sickness go away.

I had a great time despite the sickness, use it as an excuse to have even more pampering!
